I don't think middle aged man wearing a cross zip hurts anyone in any way so I would (and will) just wear what feels right to me. I think over 40 is just the right age to start caring less what people think about of clothing you decide to wear.
If it is not a funeral, wedding or a business meeting I wear what I want to wear. I wouldn’t give it second thougth to wear a light leather jacket indoors if that’s what I feel is my garment of choice for that occasion.
Time to move that boring old thing onwards and to put a new custom order in. I heard they have even heavier CXL with even more beautiful depth of color available now. Plus, I think you could surely improve on some minor details of that jacket? [emoji6]
I agree with your view. At some point all new threads could be killed at the start with "discussed before - use search!" if we follow that logic. I can only speak for myself, but I'm not here only for the information, but also for the discussion with people who share some of my interests.
i'd give it a try with a thick sweater. My experience is that if sleeve length and fit are just right with a shirt, it won't be so with a thicker layer under it. That said, it might be that sleeves would still be too long for my taste even with a sweater.
Leitch?
I have (at least) one jacket made by her. She does beatiful work!

Ar the moment basic models in black or brown cowhide are between 1000 $ - 1500 $. 100 $ extra for goatskin or 200 $ for cowhide in Other colors.
If you want good bang for the buck have look at their Cascade model. Its 1000 $ in cowhide, measuremade to you, and they will add a dresscollar for...
Well, I've never been a turtle, so that didn't come to my mind, but yeah, I could imagine that a huge turtle sitting in a car might feel like I feel with a new stiff jacket.
Just keep in mind, that if you buy standard Bedford, Pea coat or Downtown, it will be made of their +4oz horsehide. If you haven't had heavy horsehide jackets before you will be in for a surprise. For first few months such a jacket is still standing up even if you are sitting down...
Edit: but...
Its false to say that LW is too heavy, as if there was only one kind of LWs available. LW has different horsehide weights and even different hides than +4oz hh that's their speciality. Have Stu make you a Speed Demon out of 3 oz hh, 3,5 oz goat or even black deerskin and you'll be pleased, I'm...
You didn't specify if you want a real MC jacket to wear as a style piece, or a style piece based on MC jacket style.
However, you could take a look at Vanson's offerings. They have it all, cafe racers, cross zips and you name it. Just be warned, these are made for riding and most of their...
Yes, that's how it pretty much strated for me too.
Without TFL I would have probably couple of medium quality leather jackets and a Fjällräven jacket in my closet and I would be obsessing about cars, boats or watches. Come to think of it, my other potential obsession could be much more lethal...
I haven’t had many shearlings, this only my third, but this is the first one that felt immediately comfortable and easy to wear. My Cockpit USA Irvin and Aero ANJ-4 (B6 thickness) have initially felt like a fur fortresses that make me look and feel like a Sumo wrestler.
