Thanks for the responses. I'm neither set on or against an extra strip of fabric but would like to know as much as possible about the pros and cons when making a decision. I'll discuss it with Amanda. If anything new comes out of the discussion I'll communicate it on this thread.
Does adding a leather strip at the bottom add that much bulk or weight to the jacket? I'm in the process of putting together a HWM order with Amanda and I'd been leaning toward the leather. But I'm open to the idea of corduroy. Setting the bump in cost for leather aside, are there other...
Brettafett, I was joking about the layaway, but it's kind of you to invite a discussion about the possibility. Your jacket looks amazing and the dimensions seem to match other jackets that fit me (not sure how that could be since I am a hair shorter and 20 pounds heavier). But my first A2 is...
Thanks for the update.
The Kudu that looks like distressed oil pull sounds really nice. Would this be a lighter/cooler wearing jacket that fqhh? I'm thinking of getting the highwayman in brown fqhh because that seems so classic, but then would want a pioneer in something that might be more...
Interesting thread. I never realized goatskin was actually tougher and more tear-resistant than fqhh--just thought it took longer to wear in. Glad to know.
This is a request for anyone who has picked up one of Aero's indy jackets to post pics and details, maybe a small review? Doesn't matter what leather--just interested to see and hear more.
Thanks for that. Funny, I never noticed how similar the front and sides (and even sleeves) are to the stock highwayman.
I like how these jacket designs seems to allow for the jacket body to be a bit bigger without looking too big. I will also be fitting mine for a sweater underneath and...
Nice seeing the side-by-side fit pics for comparison. Wallis, the jacket looks superb--perfect fit all 'round. Looks like you molded the collar a bit since you got it and that looks good too.
That is the best fitting Aero Halfbelt I've seen, period. And it's not even broken in. Jacket length is perfect in my opinion (just a shade longer than period-correct is the most flattering/masculine). Congratulations.
I found this thread because I'm putting together an order for the 50s...
Anyone get a Pioneer yet? I'm dying to see some fit pics. I've been thinking about ordering my first Aero and this might have to be it. Could the pleat be managed in brown fqhh or would the stiffness pose a problem?
Wow. Dinerman, that jacket is awesome--and unique. Haven't seen anything quite like it. Were some patches removed from the front or is that the shadow of inside pockets?
That's a great price for those boots. I hope they work out and I'm curious to hear your impressions once you receive them.
Pricing aside, I don't consider the RRL engineers a fashion boot. Amazing materials and old-school craftsmanship. Obviously people need to decide if they want to lay out...
True, the murdocks you own are not dyed all the way through. But some are. Unless the two sales reps I worked with don't know what they were talking about (one of them said he owned a pair of Julian murdocks dyed all the way through) there are still some early Julian murdocks floating around the...
Borisna, sounds like you're doing the research and ordering a great jacket.
Count me among those who think the fit of the 38 highwayman was great on you. You're not going to be 160 pounds forever (or likely even for very long?) and one day when you're struggling to zip up the trim fitting...
