Yeah, it seems the velcro strap would come undone in a crash, but these feel very secure and I can’t imagine the gloves being pulled off… not even in an Evel Knievel wipeout.
Ah thanks! My memory has failed after two decades. My first pair then was elk skin that were stolen off the motorcycle seat and these were the replacement… my memory got them turned around. They were the same brand, same style and same look… not sure if elk and deer hides are the same.
I have worn a pair of American-made elkskin gloves for two decades. I ride with them, drive with them, walk the dog with them, and go to the theatre with them. Can’t remember who made them, but I love elk skin and recommend this hide for your digits.
It’s what I found confusing about the sizes for jackets with the same size label, that the individual specs are meaningfully different. As actual measurements, mine are:
P2P 22.25
Shoulders 17.5
Sleeves round the outside: 24.25
Length: 24.25
I know of course there are some variations from...
Jacket came today and I took a few, quick cellphone pictures in my garage workshop with terrible lighting (sorry!). Let me know your thoughts on fit.
Thanks.
Didn’t think I’d ever wear another crosszip again at my age, until I got this simple Schott 613. Been wearing this steer all week and, as tough as it is when new, it’s starting to get domesticated.
Jacket is on the way, but meanwhile one of the team members at S&S had kindly offered to hold a size 38 aside, just in case the 40 doesn’t work out. One thing for certain is that S&S has always been graceful with customer service and are more than happy to make things right. I’ll report back.
I’ve been sitting with this quiet suspicion that they were measuring panel-to-panel instead of edge-to-edge at the armpits. I’ll see when it arrives—may have to raise a fuss. I’ll report back.
