Coldest Weather I've been in
I've been in a straight -70*f temp and I've been at -40* with a wind chill factor that calc'd out at -100*f. Chipper, it was. A cup of hot coffee thrown in the air floated away as crystals.- Trouser Bark

horsehide jacket - how long to break-in?
I have a Lost Worlds leather pea coat and was wondering something similar. When I first rec'd the coat it was so stiff that fastening the buttons would make me wonder if I were going to hurt my fingers or break a button (or both). Bummer to hear of the tough break, Timmy. I had to ride 400 miles home w/ my left foot snapped off after a m/c accident last summer. If there's anything I learned it's that healing is a winter time thing... when it happens in summer it ruins the outdoor season. Hope you're back to right PDQ...- Trouser Bark

Insulated Fedora Liner
Years ago (I think it was) Eddie Bauer sold a down insulated liner in a pseudo fedora style hat. Is there anything like that now? Not the whole hat but a liner that is down insulated and retrofittable into whatever hat you want to wear that day?- Trouser Bark
