I have two wool hats in my collection. One is an older Dobbs. Great shape, really rough wool but good hat all the same. The other is a Smithbilt Scout hat. Seen lots of camping and rain. Could use stiffening but has never shrunk at all. Johnny- johnnycanuck

When I look at some of the hat pages on Facebook there are a lot of fancy coloured fedoras out there. I can garantee they are not fur felt but look damn good. The shape of your head has a big impact on the shape of the brim. I have a long oval head shape so I will never have a flat brimmed hat. They will always want to dip down in the front and back. My blue Smoke from Art. Over 10 years of mileage on it. You can see how different the colour looks between full sun and shade. In the shade this felt developed a purple Hugh over the years as well. I love it but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea,- johnnycanuck
