I think so. I read somewhere that the wider the belt the more casual it gets. I think you'll have to give these pants justice with a proper dressy belt.
I think it is very cool that you have a place in Bulgaria. I used to go there as a kid. You could pick wild grapes and figs on the seaside dunes and collect clams for roasting in bonfire. Very few tourists then. My Tom Sawyer moments. Tagging @Cskarev who is from there...:)
Narrow as in 1-in wide? It seems to me that for these pants you need a "dressy" belt, which is much more difficult to make (stitching instead of rivets or Chicago screws, etc).

Your post is a tough ask... Very technical. As a coatings chemist I love your questions and wish I had answers. I don't. It looks like the wear on your Schott is not to your liking and looks like the topcoat is flaking off in high wear areas. My only suggestion (if you really want to restore it)...
