For those of you that have been following this, I got my custom order Allen Edmonds "Broadstreet" wingtip spectator shoes in today. I wanted a pair that looked like they were deadstock from the 30's. These will be my definitive summer shoes. Can be worn dress, or casual.
Specs are as follows...
In my opinion, the rise is the main difference between modern and vintage pants. Thanks to MattDeckard, I have found that properly fitted pants are still available at EddieBauer.com They have the long rise, and a watch pocket.
I like the pleated khakis, with the Long Rise...

As a service to our friends here at the Lounge, I have set up a chat system at my personal website:

While the chat will be available for use 24/7, in the past we have found it more useful to have a specific time to meet up each week. If I recall...
This one looks pretty bad. 140mph winds, and lots of rain.
If by Saturday it looks like it's going to hit SC, I'm hauling my family up to Kentucky to visit my brother.
Marlowe, Sharpetoys, are you guys prepared?
Are there any other folks here on the atlantic seaboard?

This black pair of Allen Edmonds cap toes in 15D came in the mail today. Only $36, and they have already been broken in for me! Fit is perfect, and they are not abused at all...
Hopefully everybody down south and in Florida is doing well. Here in SC, we have just received a lot of rain (almost 4 inches in 1 hour at my house), and are starting to get some 15-20 mph winds. We are not going to receive the brunt of Bonnie.
Charley looks more damaging. Once it gets past...
Agent 5 in Chicago was nice enough to send me a tape of this segment of Fox News Chicago back in February, I think. I have just now figured out how to get it on the internet. It's a little crude, as I had to video it with my digital camera, then put that on the computer. In addition, my camera...
but it doesn't belong to me :p
A good friend of mine at work just bought this jet black Optimo Porkpie. It's quite a small hat, but he's a really slim guy, and it fits him well. I would have taken a picture of him with it on, but he wanted to wait till he had some good clothes on too...
A couple of months ago, I received a felt hat from Art. I wanted a nice grey hat to add to my collection, and I wanted it to have a real 30's style to it. It was blocked with that nice teardrop block, and has a dark steel blue ribbon to go with it. The edge is bound as well.
Specs are: 5.5"...
This is a vintage 1940's Montecristi panama hat, in the Optimo style with the crease down the middle of it. The sweatband, and ribbon are all original. The sweatband says "Boynton's Palmer House Chicago". Boynton's was a Men's store in the Palmer House Hotel, which was the first four star hotel...
I'm putting this up in the Observation Bar so that only registered users can see it.
On Monday, May 17, my wife and I welcomed our first child into this world. We named her Sofia Grace, and she is currently a very hungry girl! 8lbs 4oz, and 21 inches long, she is really a sweetie pie. We are...
I thought I had posted it here, but after doing a search, I guess I didn't.
Anyway, I was able to edit and compress the video of the Tobacco colored Optimo that I sat on.
Long story short, I sat on one of my Optimos for two miles of driving. Pulled it from my butt, and it looked terrible...
I got these two hats from PanamaBob, then had Art Fawcett finish them for me. They are very reasonably priced hats, right at $100 each, once completely finished. The hats are of a rather coarse weave, not like the fino I have, and Andykev has.
This smaller one I gave to my good friend Jeremy...
These are pictures of Andykev's Montecristi straw hat from PanamaBob. This hat was finished by Art Fawcett. I'll let them chime in with more information on it.
Here is an Optimo Park Avenue in the "Natural" color. That is, there isn't any dye or coloring added to the hat when it was made. Graham said that it is made from their finest grades of beaver and nutria, in a 50-50 blend with no hare. When a hat is dyed, you can cover up any flaws in the felt...
