You didn't? Man, when I joined the lounge, three suited men, an Italian, an Irishman and a Brit, came to my door, asked if I was 'Undertow' and proceed to beat me about the head and shoulders until I said uncle.
After my initiation, they stomped on my wool hat, brushed their hands and told me...
Okay, perhaps I've missed some hard rule of etiquette that I ought to know...
What are the rules (if any) regarding wearing button-down collar shirts with suits?
I've heard whispers that it's tacky; no suit or jacket/trouser combo should have a button-down collar. Those should be reserved...
You know, something similar happened in West Des Moines right when it started getting really hot. It was a Thursday, I was at home having just returned from St. Joes with my hats and the power went out during a nasty storm. I stopped caring about the time and read a book, went antique shopping...
lol In fact, that song has been trailing through my head all morning up until you mentioned it. I think it's time I found another song to get stuck in my head!
I've been listening to The Decemberists The Crane Wife lately. Great music, really. I haven't been listening to many bands from the 00's lately but these guys are excellent.
*In my best cockney accent
Naw guvna, Oi doun't be know'een much 'bout tact an chiv'lry, but oi'll pony up fo' a peg a rum!
Please excuse me, I've had quite a bit of coffee this morning and a powerful urge to textually reproduce another accent.
But I'll still have that rum! Regular...
Oh and before I forget, thank you to the bartenders for keeping the Lounge a really unique, excellent, clean and decent place!
This is a real classy joint and I've met a ton of great people. And best of all, I'm not afraid to point others in this direction; you're all classy, mannered...
Yes, I'd also like to thank everyone here, too! Just as Kishtu said, I've been fortunate enough to haunt the various facets of this board and my knowledge of suits, hats, etiquette, etc. has increased tenfold.
This place is almost a one-stop shop for everything a young man as myself needs to...
I don't gamble merely because I can't afford to but I certainly love watching table games! I like to go to a casino and just watch other people lose their hats at Black Jack or Roulette.
If I were to play, I think I would play either of the two games listed above.
By the by, I don't...
Regarding sodium content in burgers: take a look at the chicken sandwiches!
I LOVE McDonald's chicken strips, sandwhiches, wraps, etc. until I noticed one day that the chicken has a higher sodium and fat content than the burgers. Quite disappointing.
So I stopped eating there.
I'm just now starting The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad. Conrad is one of my favorite authors and it's unfortunate that I'm only just now getting to this classic.
*edit - Has anyone read House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski? I would LOVE to know if you liked this book.
Yes, but even in Scrooge's case, there was a coal burning stove used to heat the room (if you recall, Cratchet was allowed one piece of coal a day).
Surely the English had a means of warming their offices. Vendors, service men, laborers, etc may have worn hats all day indoors, but office men...
Although an excellent article, I must admit, the following made me cringe: "but in the nineteenth century, some form of head covering was often worn indoors. For example, Englishmen wore hats all day in their offices "
I had to revisit this sentence a few times and try to picture the...
Does he have a huge hump, bigger than normal whales? Does he have the harpoons of past whalers sticking out of him like insect stings? Does he often overturn vessels and eat the men alive? Did the heavy metal band Mastodon write an album relating his tale?
