Thanks, RBH. I don't think it will be the last thin.
That hat and shirt you're wearing look great. Looks like there should be a palm tree somewhere in that picture. ;)
I'm wearing this hat today. It's one of the Johnnyphi Collection, an Adam Royal and my first thin ribbon hat.
It's a nice, lightweight hat with no liner...perfect for days like today: not too hot and humid here today
Thanks, Bart. I do like this hat. I too am guessing it will get a lot of rotation time, especially on spring and fall days when it's cooler but still to hot for a thicker fur hat.
I like the thin ribbon too. That's why I bid on it to begin with, but now that I have it in my hand, I like the...
Bart and Johnnyphi, Here ya go. These are my tripletts adopted from the most gracious Johnnyphi. Rest assured, they have found a good home and I will raise them right. :) ;)
They are as you look at them left to right, my Adam Executive, my Stetson Royal Stetson (my favorite son), and my Adam...
Here you go, gentlemen. I didn't mean to keep you waiting, but we have a visitor in the house for a week or so and family events have filled my free time. The other thing is that this hat has had a jack pushing it into a longer oval since it arrived on Friday.
This hat, an Adam Royal...
Ah, yes. I have three of those, and I like all of them. But I was thinking in terms of felt hats. That will probably change soon though. I am planning to add a silverbelly from Buckaroo Hatters and Major Mike Moore. There is also a sand colored stratoliner or OR clone from Art in my future.
I hope you do that and that you are most successful, metropd. There are very few hatters anymore, let alone good ones such as Mr. Miller, Art Fawcett, and Major Mike Moore, whom I've recently been in contact with.
Mike told me he had Dee's hat ready to send. I'm amazed at how quick he is, but he told me he could easily to go his shop at 7PM and not notice the time again until it's 3AM. His love of hats and making hats was very obvious from our conversation.
IC, we'll be waiting for the pictures after Christmas.
Mike told me how he enjoyed giving your girls those hats he gave them. His pleasure was in making your daughters happy. I really enjoyed chatting with him on the phone. He's really a nice guy.
I'm going to call him back next week and...
Two black hats? That would be pretty cool. A more formal one bound in black and a OR or stratoliner clone with the light ribbon and light binding. You're killin' me, man. I'm weak ya know!:eusa_doh:
I'm pretty much with you, Bart. I think the gray binding would probably be too much. I'm so taken with that hat...I wouldn't want to overwhelm it. I think the black is the ticket.
Point taken, Major. lol lol lol
Truthfully though, I give my wife a bad time, but she's really a sweetheart, and she knows I like hats. She wouldn't say anything because she knows they are a pleasure for me.
I like the rebash, Jimmy., and I don't think they make a Campdraft in that color. I've been looking at one in silverbelly, or what Akubra calls silverbelly. I would call it sand instead. I don't have any light colored hats, and I need (want) some.
I called Mr. Miller today to thank him for this:
This is the semi-colado that Robert got for me and that Gus Miller blocked. This hat is nice, nice, nice! Gus and I visited for a while about various things including him saying that he's thinking about retiring and doesn't know what to do with...
