REALLY! I'd like to see that article. The typical argument, I believe, is that organic growers don't use aritficial pesticides or fertilizers which can and do build up in your system. Does that make it better for you? Seems like it would to me! But I've been wrong before.;)
I'm a...
Wanted to revive this thread - how DO you ladies apply your Lotta Body? I just bought my first bottle and mixed it with water in a (vintage - tee hee) dish, but I have a perfectly useable spray bottle I might have used instead.
And what concentrations do you use?
I have a huge problem with Whole Foods, because they jack up their organic prices to double the conventional prices. That's completely unecessary and they do it just because people will pay it. Trader Joe's, for example, is cheap and the organics are minimally more expensive than the...
I most definitely believe the hype when it comes to sustainable anything - housing, farming, what have you. I always try to buy organic (not from Whole Foods if I can help it) simply because it's better for me and is healthier for the land as well. Milk, produce, even dishwashing liquid, soap...
I do like the idea of unbleached cotton tampons. I have been purchasing all organic soaps and face washes lately at Trader Joe's (cheap!), and noticed they have what appear to be organic tampons. I shall have to check them out.
Because if you think about it...do you really want BLEACH...in...
Rude comments about what you're wearing deserve the same response as any rude comment - nothing. A well place raised eyebrow in the direction of the people talking behind your back will get the job done.
Otherwise, I'm a kill them with kindness kind of gal. Genuinely curious people of...
:offtopic: To be honest, I hated A Return To Modesty. Shalit gets let off the hook a little because it was written when she was in college, but after she blames things like rape and teenage rebellion on a lack of modesty and insists men would respect women if they would be more modest, she...
OMG I love the testimonials on the sites above, the hippy talk cracks me up:
"At first I used Rad-Pads just at night, or at home, now I use them exclusively. As I became in touch with my earthy woman I realised I don’t want to do much when I’m in my moon-time. I’ve organised my life...
I love red lipstick and nail polish, but it gets boring to wear the same color every day (even if the shade is different). In particular, nail polish gets boring in red day after day since I can see it all the time.
I love Besame's dusty rose lip color, and have just invested in some browns...
My hair is very long now, about 4 inches below shoulder length. Since my last trim, about 10 weeks ago, my hair has grown at least 2 inches. I have no idea why is grows so fast but it does. I have a nice wave to it though so I guess I am lucky, though I'll probably chop it off into a bob next...
I'm concerned that the NYC lipstick may have caused a pimple just above my upper lip, so I am wary of trying it again. That and my MAC ocean berry looks just like it.
lol Good to know there's an adoptive home waiting!
It's funny, I rarely go to estate sales, but my boyfriend and I headed over to this one...I got a Fire King jadite plate there for 50 cents, a pink celluloid confetti necklace for a quarter, an adorable little vintage sparkly pink lint...
Yes, the sides are different - here is a pic of the back and the requested pic of the inside, and yes it's real leather! It's 10.5 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide, and expands to about 3 inches deep though it's pretty flat when empty. Your enthusiasm is infectious!! :)
Wow! I snagged this Dofan a few weeks ago at an estate sale for $10 - I had no idea they were so valuable!
sorry for the crappy pic, i can take more if anyone is interested
Daisy - did you check Bobby from Boston's? I bet you did!
Are you familiar with Urban Renewals on Brighton Ave? It's right by the whitehorse. They often have vintage slips...and tons of great stuff.
Also, the Salvation Army in Quincy usually had tons of slips.
Quaker Oats packages come with an oatmeal raisin recipe that is fabulous - when you substitute chocolate chips for the raisins! I always put in way more chocolate chips than what's called for in the recipe.
