    Brylcreem

Of those three, I've tried Brylcreem and Pomade. Brylcreem is easily my choice over the two. I only used Pomade when waxing my handlebar mustache, in the rare instance that I grew one out. It never worked properly in my hair and caused my scalp to itch and hurt. Brylcreem for me, please!

    Fedora without a suit advice

I couldn't agree more. This is my approach. I tend to wear a non-vintage gray Royal Stetson with a black band (which is suprisingly durable and soft for their more modern line). I can wear that with about anything. It also helps that I have a black leather jacket for the fall and a dark...

The idea that hats keep you cooler...

When it comes to fur felts and most panamas, hats do not cool me off one bit; they tend to make me overheat in fact. However, I often wear a good straw cowboy hat to keep the sun off me if I'm out midday.

I guess I'm not clear as to what's being charged? What feature is incurring a fee?

    Style Apogee?

I believe the above is quite correct but only in the sense that a single era won't be showing through; and only really manifesting in a small subculture. With the downturn of the economy, I have a feeling fashion will take a downturn and we will see a freeze on "new" style. I think things...

General guidlines for the new kid on the block?

I agree with all the above (as our mentors/bartenders are awesome sources, including most of our senior members). I'd also like to add that you should consider a casual study into fashion itself. Learn why people wore what they wore, or used what they used; learn how they used it. Learn how...

    "Crisis, what Crisis?"

Haha, I thought I was the only "paranoid" person out there. I've also been getting my medical work out of the way in case of a big crunch in which I lose insurance. I'm scheduled for an evaluation on one root canal, I've already got glasses (first eye exam and lenses ever! and I've need them...

    Old fashioned names new again....

As morbid as it may seem, this is absolutely excellent advice. At the very least, it could help a couple brainstorm. :D :eusa_clap

    "Crisis, what Crisis?"

Unfortunately, I had to stop lighting my cigars with $100's and since have resolved to light my cigars with $20's. Much more efficient anyway.

    Tobacco Ads

I would have posted this in The Connoisseur area, but I felt the following was less about "enjoyment" and more about history. Bartenders, please feel free to move if necessary. Stanford University Ad Research Included in this Gallery are some absolutely amazing/ridiculous ads for tobacco...

Candy cigars & cigarettes for Halloween

You know, it's one of those things that falls under my, "If you don't like it, don't take it and teach your kids not to either," rule. I guess you could call me pretty liberal but I tend to see myself as a rugged individualist. And what I mean is, if you don't want your kids to smoke, you'll...

Al Sharpton called me "Dick Tracy" today...

Hey, you look real sharp! I applaud you for your timeless sense of style and fashion. If I were lucky (or possibly unlucky) enough to get my picture taken by the press, I'd hope it would be a guy as sharply dressed as you! :eusa_clap

    Stretching It By Far

Cruise control is only good on long stretches of highway that do not require frequent, or even semi-frequent stops. The constant stopping or slowing causes the engine to use more gas while trying to reattain the desired speed. When resuming cruising speed after a slow down or stop, it's best...

How to get rid of silverfish?

Yep, keep your room free of clutter, use some boric acid, try to keep things dry. I've had my problems with these little nasties, too. They like to hide in dark, moist areas so a pile of stuff along the edge of a wall is a great place for them. Also watch for them in bathrooms where they'll...

Calling all fans of the Great Depression

I agree here. Unless there is a fundamental shift, or a real disaster, we won't see anything like the Great Depression. Our society has changed so greatly, that it would really require a dramatic 180 to bring us back to the same class, style and poverty, of the Great Depression era. And...

    Barber Shops

I imagine if it's a very close shave, one might only need to go in every two or three days, or more, depending on how fast their hair grows. Then again I suppose it's also preference; ie I let my stuble grow a days or two before I shave again.

    Dita von Teese

p.s. don't get me wrong, I have more respect for Dita than I do for most fashion/celebrity folks. I believe she is charming and I like her perspective. And as for Mr. Warner, I believe he is interesting and educated, which is more than I can ask from so many of the sludge that fills our radios...
