Yeah, What Katie Did is nice, but I refuse to order from them. Even without shipping, it's just way overpriced.
Well I tell ya what, Secrets in Lace has a sheer bullet bra for $36, which is cheaper than the WKD one and looks exactly the same. Although WKD might be cheaper for you given the...
Could be early 60s. Any way you can post a picture of you modeling the dress? It looks lovely and I'm sure many here would love to see the detail on the bodice!
This dress is most likely 50s, though it's hard to tell without really being able to see the shape. Chances are it's some kind of synthetic, possibly a rayon blend, that you're mistaking for polyester.
Overlocked seams started in the late 50s, but you would only see them in a dress that was store-bought/factory made, not in anything hand sewn.
Eventually you'll learn how to tell if something's vintage, Hotrodmama, though it may not be easy to tell exactly when it's from! For example, I...
You'll get used to dating stuff. As Lady Day said, first look at the fiber content (if it's marked on the tag), the zipper and the seams. You'll learn the styles eventually as well - the 50s Hawaiian dresses almost always have sarong or circle skirts with straps or halters, often removable. They...

If you're wearing the red shoes, I'd also be sure to match your accessories. Carry a red purse, and find a red flower for your hair. A poinsetta would look lovely.
They're stretchy so you don't always need closures. You know, like a lot of the Rago girdles (including the corselettes) are pull-on designs.
Bella, do you have a picture of the V.S. one?
Keep in mind that a lot of people are probably making negative comments and shooting you dirty looks because you look good and they are jealous that they couldn't be bothered to throw on anything other than their ugly sweatpants.
Also, try the retort "didn't your mama teach you that if you...
Like Inky said, make sure your nails are free of oils. You can use alcohol but regular polish remover also works well. Polish will peel if your coats are too thick. Too thick and they won't completely dry - and when it's not dry it will peel right off.
I'd really prefer both. The problem with having just a screen is that you still end up with a bunch of powder on your puff while the compact is shifting around in your purse. With just the metal cover and no screen, your puff stays clean in transit, but then it's easy to end up with too much...
Gene, sorry about that. I'll go take care of my inbox!
Your "cigarette server" is truly lovely! I've actually had some luck searching for "cigarette dispenser" on Ebay and while some I've found are very expensive, others are not.
I picked this one up for my boyfriend (the roulette wheel...
