On the flipside, I bet someone $5 I could get people to hand me money on the street. He was an idiot and took the bet. I dressed up like a homeless guy and tapped away on a little djembe drum for a few hours - and didn't make any money. I was starting to sweat when some drunk fool came up to me...
This was a David Lee Roth flubb during an interview in which he announced reuniting with Van Halen for a comeback tour. You should see the whole thing - he sounded like he was out of his mind. lol
I revisited this site and the pictures seem to be loading better. I was finally able to complete the series. Very interesting set of photos. Almost even a little eerie to watch a person grow old right before your eyes.
I suspect this sentiment is what drove so many fans to these films. The books are plodding and often confusing with action spaced apart quite a bit. It's very much an epic which requires hours of reading.
I loved the books - I've read the series (and the Hobbit) 3 times through, along with...
lol well, I guess I'll be crossing that off my to-do list now!
Yes, you're quite right. Unfortunately, I'm the guy that lives under a rock; the one who's "Not with it", or "square", and not so much by personality as socially. And mind you, I don't eschew FB or cell phones just for the sake...
My grandfather fought in that battle and after seeing SPR, commented on the opening beach head scene, "That's about as accurate as I think a film could be."
We asked him if it really sounded/looked like that, to which he remarked, "Well, yeah, although there were alot more guys gettin' killed...
I can tell you from experience, I've become very much ostracized by my former friends and fellow peers for two reasons:
1. I don't, and won't, own a cellular phone.
2. I don't have a facebook account.
I'm not trying to rattle my walking cane and yell, "Darn kids!" here, but I do think it's...
"...and with that, I'd like to introduce NPR, er, wait...this just in, they're losing their funding and will be shutting down. Alright, fine.
Please let me introduce Mr. Talking Head #2, in their place. He's got funding, and it appears by his gesticulations and flared nostrils, he has...
Not to raise the dead or stir the pot, but I read through this article and thought it may have bearing on this thread...

So enters our hero, played by Heza Rube, followed by the our favorite mistress played by Friday Knight. And don't forget appearances by that loveable tramp played by Anita Bath, the popular celebrity played by Otto...
Honestly, that scene was the purest/simplest expression of its genre I've seen in modern films, and it's a boon that it was documented in that film. Any camp fire story, or scary movie, or true story that ACTUALLY lurks with us, has that factor.
It's that sudden feeling of terror and panic...
And just to follow up on this thought - sometimes a "said-ism" helps you show something, instead of tell something.
He rubbed his chin, "Maybe, maybe not." implies he's thoughtful (or what have you).
He said, "Maybe, maybe not," thoughtfully. No implication, the reader is bored. Allow the...
I've heard this before, and I've heard the same thing with adjectives, similies, odd-punctuation, etc. And we've all heard of "thesaurusitis", a vague complaint that assumes the author is being needlessly verbose, and thereby is using words he/she should not normally use.
It seems to me...
I have no problem with used shoes, although I prefer to have a close look at them if I plan to buy them that way. Don't like unusual wear, odors, etc. My feet are bigger than most guys (14d), so it's not all that often that I find NEW shoes that look good, let alone used.
Anyone familiar with this shop, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe this man does custom work, correct? At least that's what I gathered from the article.
I believe those prices are high for retail menswear, but not unusual for bespoke. Suits at £650 and "some shirts" at £120...
I thought you ladies and gents would appreciate this little article. If you're in the UK, you might even know a little bit about this shop.
