How tough is basic training these days?

I should reiterate, this was '94 so it may have tightened back up, both Airborne and Army boot before it. The problems I saw were primarily the fresh faces, though my first impression was on the the initial run (3 miles?) and was more catholic. Out of a couple hundred students there were...

Are Classy Restaurants Lowering Dress Code Standards in Your Area?

There's a gun store here in town that will cut off your tie (at about the 3rd button) with scissors if you don't make for the door or get it off quick enough. They staple them to a post. One of the better Lounges in town, "Bernie's Bungalow", had a brief fling with a dress-coded upstairs...

Take it off!!! (Let's hear what you think, ladies.)

If we can find someone with outsized facial features to match your nose and my forehead we could Photoshop a giant montage head. :D

How tough is basic training these days?

Jump school was 3 weeks in '94. I wasn't impressed, they could have gotten it done in 2 if they wanted to (or if the Marines were running it). <-joke The training day was too short, the PT was a joke, and the lack of discipline, initiative and motivation among the fresh from Boot Army...

Take it off!!! (Let's hear what you think, ladies.)

Steve, I have similar chin issues. I'm 36, when I shave it all off, I still get carded (well, less since the eyewrinkles have started coming in) but with stubble or the beard I don't. I have gotten a lot of complements since I grew the goatee. With - Without-

Classic/Classy Style in Business Casual Environment

I best see you asking about grown-up hats soon buddy. :D That's a telling point about the quarry workers in the Fountainhead and a zillion other movies and photos. A big part of the problem we have nowadays is the weight and toughness of fabrics. Most clothing that looks more formal...

    Vintage Concealed Weapons

http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?67001-Concealed-Weapons One thing that is often missed is that, if you are going to carry and want to dress well (as opposed to always being untucked), you are going to have to dress around the gun. For me that means my jackets aren't tailored in...

    What do you look like?

Gabe Kaplan has more "it" in terms of attitude. Karn's just kind of "nice".

    What do you look like?

Rafter, I'm talking about the bearded Gabe Kaplan as seen in "Fast Break" and on poker shows, like "High Stakes Poker" which he co-hosts. You have to admit there's a resemblence in the face (especially the eyes) and the sly, "That's right, I'm funny AND cool." grin.

    What Are You Reading

Reread Stephen Hunter's Bob Lee Swagger books. "Point of Impact" (basis for the recent movie "Shooter" but much better), "Black Light" and "Time to Hunt". Getting ready to put in some time on the rifle and sniper stories inspire me. Also L. Neil Smith's "The Probablility Broach" to fill...
