Argghh! It's too bad that the Cicada Club won't be running at that time.

Some tips to help those who are clueless about men's fashion

Agreed on all counts. In this case, don't 'kill the messenger'.

    Australian Vintage Suits

Perhaps the cloth does. I was referring to the suits I've seen in this cloth, which often seem to be British made.

    The Artist

. Here's something extraordinary, IMO. The film's makers based everything on the premise that American silent cinema of the late '20s was not an obsolete 'lower step' on the Ladder of Cinematic Progress ... but rather, a high art in itself. "The Artist" is a work entirely steeped in that...

The Great Gatsby - Remake in the Works

. I saw the new movie "The Artist" last night ... and it puts the lie to every defense of Baz Luhrmann's upcoming "Great Gatsby" flick. "The Artist" brilliantly captures the time (1927 to 1931), place (Los Angeles), and venue (Hollywood filmmaking) it's set in. Not by being 'period-perfect'...

    Australian Vintage Suits

Do you think this is a version of (or the same thing as) the hardy "thornproof" cloth so often seen in vintage British suits?

Some tips to help those who are clueless about men's fashion

Again, it depends on your profession, where you are in it, and what you want to get out of it. m0nk can make his own rules ... but that doesn't mean that anyone and everyone else can (or even should).

    The Cap Faction

Wetting can be tricky if the cap has a leather sweatband. You could remove it, but that's a hassle.

Some tips to help those who are clueless about men's fashion

That's definitely the impression I got from reading them. Yes, that seems to be their target audience. It also helped that one was a prince (and who would he have to answer to?) and the other was an artist/entertainer.

    The Cap Faction

Interesting ... I haven't had any incidents of ripping and/or shredding, not even with cotton or linen caps. I've used a vintage metal hat stretcher (the electrical kind, with the hand crank and base) and steam. No problems (thus far).

    Christmas without Christ? Huh?

What I meant was, I approve of that kind of "ruining" (in quotes). It is, in fact, constructive.

Some tips to help those who are clueless about men's fashion

Yes ... and in some professions, wearing clothes that make people look askance at you can hurt your chances of being successful. Depending on your line of work, you have to weigh the pros and the cons: i.e., is the wearing of my bow tie --as much as I like it-- worth jeopardizing my chances...

FS: Mens late 1930's pinstripe suit

. An absolutely wonderful suit, from a time (the late 1930s or so) when American suitmaking had reached its pinnacle of style. Today, no vintage clothing store (and practically none of the savvier thrift stores) would offer this suit at such a reasonable price!
