Buzz Ricksons already makes these type of boots as do a few other companies over there and here. I would guess that scarcity and demand created the high price.
There are plenty of work shirts out there without the chinstrap. The Buzz Rickson mock twist chambray comes to mind.

Hey, if Dickies or Carhartt start making period perfect 1930's workwear for $20 a pop I'll be glad to buy it and destroy it. This stuff is just fashion.
