I remember when they were for skinheads, cops and postal workers....no longer made in the UK? Kind of bulky and not so attractive. Comfortable? Yes, but I'd rather have style!
Again, you can order the LVC stuff from Cultizm.com from the U.S. with no VAT...right around the same price IF it were available readily here in the States. Only in CA can you find it everywhere....
I have a few pairs of the Pointers and if you want them to be comfortable (as carpenter jeans are supposed to be), get your exact size or go one up if you are on the muscular (or chubby) side.
They mentioned many factors including the quality/education of the workers, cost of materials, shipping, etc.. Couple that with the fact if you have no workers here, who the f**k will buy your products?
BTW, I listened to an interesting program on NPR the other day where they discussed manufacturing in the U.S.. It's often cheaper (by cost per unit) to make something here than in another country even with higher labor costs. Maybe Red Wing figured this out?
