    Guns and shooting advice?

If you find a pistol you like, such as the Hi-Power, but the grip is still not perfect, remember that you can often get things like aftermarket slimmer grip panels to make the gun fit your hand better. (I run those on my Browning and my 1911's, having comparably short fingers)...

    What Are You Reading

Just finished World War I: The African Front: An Imperial War on the Dark Continent. A very detailed look at what has long been dismissed as a sideshow to the slaughter in Europe and why it was far more than a sideshow.

    The Spanish Civil War

Very poorly indeed apparently. My apologies. I was trying to differentiate between the people of Spain, whose ferocity and effectiveness in resistence to the French invaders gave us the term "guerilla", and the then monarchy/aristocracy of Spain which was unable to mount an effective...

    The Spanish Civil War

Not to sound snarky, but that wouldn't be the first time the British paid Spain for aid against an enemy. In the Napoleonic era, if not for British subsidies and support, Spain probably would not have resisted France, at least for very long. Not a slam on the individual bravery or...

    Show us your Guns!

As CAD/CAM and small scale manufacturies become less spendy, I'd like to see a Licensee figure out a way to do functioning replicas of some of the better known / used in movies, revolvers like the Lebel's. Modern steels for safety and chamber them in a more readily available, roughly...

    Show us your Guns!

Not in my budget right now, there was some interest in one a few months back so I figured I'd post it. I would imagine I'd use the standard load if I owned one. Without looking it up I'd guess 260-ish grain lead round nose at about 600-700 FPS?

Found another British Bulldog .450 for sale. We were discussing them a while ago. It's at auction on GunBroker so I don't want to link PM me for info or go look for it. Price was low when I posted.

    In the Year Two-Thousannnnd

Alternately, how did function shape form? Did the technology for speakers and mics on early phones require that they be as close to the ear and mouth as a traditional phone? If so, did that have as much influence on the "flip" design as Star Trek?

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Okay, Suspiria (it's on TCM) just made the list of dumb, not scary, horror films. Spoilers follow, highlight to read. The girl has latched herself into a room and the Killer is trying to lift the metal latch with a straight razor, or perhaps just scare her into doing what she did, which...

IIRC, the Director's brother(?) was a SEAL and trained the actors on gunhandling and tactics and helped correograph the gunfights.

    The Adventurer's Gear Thread

Thank you for your reasoned response. The "so American" line was unnecessary and ticked me off. Don't look to Hollywood or TV for what the real gun culture in the US is about. I certainly don't claim that simply being in the military gives anyone a pass on correct gun handling. I was...

Easy there tiger. I don't need a lesson from you or anyone else on firearm safety. Weapons that have been cleared in the presence of all involved can be and often are safely used for photo ops., static displays and other particular instances under controlled circumstances. There is a...

That photo looks like it was taken in a studio. That makes it likely the gun was empty for the shot.
