Yes, it was a popular style, that's why I thought someone would recognise it as Sears,
Hercules, Californian, Wards, etc.
Just to then be able to find and compare some other examples.

If you think the shoulders are wide, look at the sleeve length.
Maybe he has proportionately short arms for a six footer,
or maybe the jacket has long sleeves.
Someone on the FL must know what make and model that jacket is...

Here's a nice repro' jacket- not quite the same as the Willis jacket
but similar. Very well observed and detailed and excellent quality.
Repro's don't really get any better than this.

Some folks do reenact German Colonial.
I would hope their hats are custom made.

German forces in Africa in WW1 is quite an interesting field.
I just read "Tanganyikan Guerilla", which decribes Paul von Lettow Vorbeck giving the British
the run around...
Totally different scenario and there's some culture being talked around that you're not privy to.
Thanks for noticing and for your confidence in these trying times.
I know for sure it's NOT a WW2 vintage A-2 jacket.:)
No delusions.

Mind how you go.
I am not deluding myself at all.
I simply don't like, that(although I haven't heard it directly) a businessman
is saying that he has created a jacket that is, quite clearly a vintage jacket.
It's really not so hard for me to be absolutely sure, I'm very familiar and quite...
I am absolutely certain that the jacket being discussed is a vintage jacket.
It's a leather jacket, not a painting, or a banknote- just a leather jacket.
Vintage clothing and leathers are often used in the movies and this is just another. There are plenty of small details that can be seen in...
Herr Johnson-
I have a Hunting jacket, by "Cogswell Harrison", London,
which has a RiRi zip.
Don't mention the War...
The cloth in this jacket is VERY fine (magnifying glass to see the weave)and very thin,
double layer. It wets easily. I'm wondering what type of cloth it is.

Yes, I saw that, thanks.
I guess there wouldn't have been so many civilian rucksacks made by
Deuter after 1939-ish. So, if the DRP thing holds, it's tentatively between '34 and '38*.
We'll see what else turns up.

Knackered, yes but it may look better:)
Baby oil is mineral oil, which is sewing machine/light machine oil.
Keep away from babies and other precious things.
Try a handful of Brycream on yer helmet.:)
Enriched with wheat protein.

Hi Baron-
we can't see the small details from here.
Zip? Snaps? brands, markings on?
Maybe not an issue A-2(?) but let's have your vintage educated guess from the zip, if it's an orig.
You must have studied orig. A-2s... just a little.
The '80s and '90s were a big time for A-2 repros-...
Mützen
Back on page 2(I think) of this thread, a couple of years ago,
there was some mützen talk. Bergmützen, etc...
I bought one of these mützen/caps(read on) but may not have offered any opinion or information about it. I bought it online and here's a link to it(or a similar one- it's a...
