    Recommended Vintage-esque Nail Polish

Aw, that's a shame - it's such a nice color! Anyone have any tips for opening bottles of nail polish that are stuck shut? I'm afraid that my "Got the Blues for Red" really has left me with the blues for red as it's managed to get stuck shut since the last time I used it! :(

What you remember from past decades.

My mom use to do that when I was little - despite the fact that I was always wearing a seatbelt! Reading other posts has made me think of other things. As far as anti-drug goes I think of that dog Officer McGruff, and the D.A.R.E. program at school. And technology: I remember my parents...

    What's your favorite Pie ?

I can't believe I forgot boston cream pie! That is a really good one - I like the one Marie Callender's makes.

What you remember from past decades.

What Vladimir Berkov and Strider said, plus: libraries with only card catalogs, jelly shoes/sandals, kool-aid, bike shorts and big t-shirts, Paula Abdul (waaay before American Idol), My Little Ponies, Care Bears, Jem, Polly Pocket (back when she was actually made small enough to fit into...

    What's your favorite Pie ?

I think that's how I feel too! But if I *have* to pick I'd go with apple pie, lime pie (the kind made with cool whip, lime jello, vanilla pudding and limes) and pecan pie.

    Thoughts on Diaries/Journals/Scrapbooks/Blogs

I've been an online journal person for a few years now. I've been terrible about writing in paper journals. Online journals are so convienent and something about having a potential reading audience gets me to post. Of course the audience can be bad too, as when I'm grumpy or tired and make a...

    Recommended Vintage-esque Nail Polish

My current favorite is OPI's Got the Blues for Red. I like darker more blue toned reds. I love all the color names OPI comes up with, they're always so clever. I have a Maybelline one that I also like that I think is called Cherry Rain that is much much more of a "red" red.

    Pre-1934 Films...

I'm on livejournal (under a different screenname) and in the night must fall lj community. :) I've seen Three On a Match and enjoyed it, but I haven't seen any of the others. I'll put them on my Netflix list and keep my eye out for them on TCM. Thanks for the recommendations! Anyone know...

I still say laptop and everyone around me still says laptop. Notebook computer sounds funny, although I have heard it in advertisements for laptops.

I use tin foil too. I was just taking down some birthday decorations yesterday that I'd made out of tin foil and one of my roommates remarked on how we still say tin foil even though it's not made out of tin. Does anyone know when it was made out of tin and when/why it changed to aluminum...

    Pre-1934 Films...

I am in love with pre-codes! I love Busby Berkeley musicals and Norma Shearer films (especially when she's paired with Robert Montgomery). Of the Berkeley films Gold Diggers of 1933 is definitely the most strongly pre-code of his pre-code films. I love at the end of Pettin' in the Park when...

    What's For Breakfast...

Toast every morning, no butter, no jam just plain toast. When I live near a Trader Joe's it's always English muffin bread toast (better than regular bread or regular English muffins and just sqeaks by sourdough). Usually accompanied by tea. Sometimes I make orange muffins or have cereal but...

    What's for Dinner?

Toast and cottage cheese and a root beer float (the thread on soda/pop was so inspiring I had to run out and buy root beer!) I don't really cook. I live with roommates who cook but I'd rather spend my free time not in the kitchen (unless, of course, it involves sugar!).

    SOLID POTATO SALAD

I'm pretty sure I've seen this clip before too, but I think I maybe saw it in the movie Summer Stock with Judy Garland. In the movie Judy Garland's character ended up starring in a play put on in her family's barn.

Do we like sodie pop? What do you like and what do you call it?

I grew up in California and it's soda all the way! Although hearing it called "pop" is natural since my parents say pop (they aren't from California). Coke definitely means Coca-Cola in my mind. I rarely drink soda, but when I do I prefer root beer - rootbeer floats are the best. Oh, and...

Extra! Extra! Read All About it! Every Five Seconds!

I used to read the newspaper everyday as part of my breakfast morning routine, but since the subscription ran out I haven't really replaced the paper with any other news source. Occasionally I'll have a peak at the local paper or BBC news online, but I've generally dropped out of being aware of...
