It can be treacherous for anyone regardless of longevity,....there's no way to tel lif a person can use a measureing stick these days. I bought what was supposed to bea 1940s sweater, size L-XL,...he gave me measurements he supposedly took,....when it came ALL the measurements he gave were...
Sorry, I still lovae good 'ol Bing! I saw Harry Connick years ago in Philly,...I would NOT spend a penny to see him again! He was there for about 2 hrs and sang only 5-6 songs at best! No, he was not sick, etc. He kept dancing around the stage and had the band "break it down" or "jam",..it...
Yes, Matt's suggestion is a sound one. That was also one thing I did that I did not mention, I would give examples of the old 1940s movies, movie stars, etc. The clothing of the period. Thought he one guy in Flourtown said he knew what I was talking about, he hand't a clue!
I'm not sure what you are faced with there across the pond, but here, at least in my area, I'm faced with an abundance of broken-English speaking Asians that insist their way is the best way to tailor something.
For instance, I had to explain four times how I wanted my 1940s trousers...
By the way Blackjack, I see your avatar,...like old baseball stuff from the 1940s? I picked up two wool ballcaps from the 40s a few weeks ago from a friend. One for me, one for the little gal-o-mine. Mine has an "F" on it, the other, I think has a "J",.....figures the "J" is small, being that...
Actually not a great deal wore suspenders/braces, it was much more a half-n-half sort of thing,.....some did, some didn't. A lot didn't really....I hve several 40s high waisted trousers, only one has suspender buttons in them that were already there to begin with, and another I opted to have...
Its actually a completely stupid price,....its out of print, so suddenly its as if God himself handed it down to Amazon to sell to you,....
I've found LOTS of hundred dollar books on other used book sites for just a few bucks,....I'm sure I'll run across that one for my wife sooner or...
Kudos to you Richard!!:eusa_clap You're a stand up fellow, good for you for not following the herd!! Awesome! Now my wife's gonna kill me for not finding your post sooner so she could get it!!,.....awww, CRAP!,...lol
I just took a look at Memory Lane's website!!! They're GREAT!!! They have almost EVERYTHING I'm looking for but the gooseneck and the front fork struts!!!!! WOW! The nice thing is, its not very expensive either,...whoohoo!!:eusa_clap Let me tell ya, its a nice little departure from...
Holy cow,...I'm only 31 and I grew up with them,....Lord, they were still around in the 1980s even,....its so weird to hear someone be amazed by those,.....
Naw,...the snow in Lancaster, PA is nothing more than dried potato flakes dropped by large military boeing aircraft, an astro-space-weather project based out of the local regional airport.
The US military has through scientists been able to manipulized the atmosphere via nuclear radiation and...
Yes of course! A GOOSENECK!! I just could NOT think of it!!
Yes I want to put back the exact same style handlebars that originally came on it, I saw them BUT they were too small,...only a 26" spread on them,...they came with a 28", if you can spot one or two on ebay let me know. As far as...
Not really. Modern clothing is made and cut larger these days, but with smaller sizes on the tags. My wife takes about a size 12 vintage (30s-40s) but modern size is a size 4-6. I see it all the time with her. In fact, I'm a modern size 40-42 jacket, but in vintage I'm more a size 42-44...
I completely agree with you on this!
I have found the exact same findings in regards to fit, comfort and so on. If you look at photos from the 30s and 40s, you will notice no heavily cinched belts,....if you do, they stick out, and look messy,...unkempt.
Look at Gene Kelly, Astair...
Anyone make repro parts for my Roadmaster or wife's Rollfast? Anyone sell restored or refurbished parts for them? I know I should be able to get new handlebars that are the same as the onld,....and have seen numerous handlebar (center posts? is that proper terminology?) for them on ebay, old...
A few shots of the Grand last night....
...if anyone's wondering what it looks like and would like better picks if thinking of going! (I thought the lights on the ceiling and the inflatable polar bear were a little ditracting of the theater's antique beauty, but hey it could be worse!!)...
Oh I almost forgot!!!...
I passed up a really old (1907 dated) tuxedo! I am a 42 jacket, this "JUST" fit on me,...I could not do much after that, so I took it off,....I actually tried it on to get a better idea of its size.
It has its jacket, vest and pants,....all in great condition and...
