I've been collecting, buying and selling these rings for a while now as well. Your grandfathers ring is pretty spectacular and in great condition. You could easily get a jeweler to replace the eyes with stones or glass. The history of these rings is varied, but originally they were melting down...
In regards to those brando belts, you could do it yourself, but I wouldn't use that "suede" lace that you have linked. That will wear out and break pretty fast. You really want to use a leather lace and even then I'm pretty sure it will wear and break long before the belt does...
Thanks for the kudos guys! You would be hard pressed to fit a 2" - 2 1/2" belt in a pair of jeans. The are mostly 1 3/4" (belt loops filled) or 1 1/2" (some room in loops). I'd be proud to make a belt for anyone here on TFL!
Who pays top dollar for RRL? Not me...I wait for it to show up on eBay at rock bottom...er, cheaper prices. I've only owned a few pieces in all honesty.
I saw that yesterday flat-top....some nice wabash stuff in that look book. Wonder if it will ever make it's way into the secondary market? Seems like certain items are tough to find on eBay...for example the officer's chinos.
Thanks guys....was wearing them again last night. Breaking in very rapidly...they have a full leather sole on mine, so not getting much outdoor use in the winter weather.
I would go for the $120 pair...the $65 pair have stitched on selvage:

Here's a nice option for lower priced made in USA boots:

Got the Vente Privee order....chinstrap Sunset shirt in kelp was great, no so much on the canvas bag. It's sort of rubbery feeling and it's getting sent back! No word on the t-shirt that I ordered yet.
Dehen 1920 makes the best shawl collar sweater out there for the money...guaranteed will last for life:
