    William Lennon spec boots

Yes, the rubber on them is very thin...just dropped off my pair to have new heels put on. I went with leather sole/rubber heel.

Interesting...I wonder if they just took a pair of Julians boots to Rio and had them copy them? Wouldn't surprise me as they tend to wantonly copy anything and everything.

Thanks man, no offense but I just don't want anyone to be confused about the origin of the belts.

I've had the same issue with LVC and people who work in their retail locations...they seem to really have little helpful information.

A reputable cobbler uses a solution to wet the leather before stretching...unless they used an old dried out hide or thread to stitch them, it should be no issue to do so.

Here are the new ones on the RRL site described as being expertly made in TX http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12552496

The current models are being made by somebody other than Julian.....maybe they have old stock? The ones I have that had the shaft issue were the Julian made ones.

Don't hold your breath on anything you've ordered...last time I only got 2 of 3 items from vente-privee....I "ordered" the Menlo Jacket, the blanket lined Sack Coat and the blue/black pullover Sunset shirt. I hope I get em' all, but will be satisfied if I only got the Menlo.

Take them to a shoe guy and have the instep stretched...will cost about $20.

I'm pretty sure that RRL handed Julien the design specs and they didn't work well with the type of leather they required. You can't put a vanity cut boot shaft on a boot made of 9/10 oz leather and expect it to work out well. Riding boots are similarly cut, but are made of stretchy thin leather...

If you were going for a pure 40's/50's engineer with a low profile toe, I don't think you would never see that much stacked midsole or heel. I think these are some pretty nicely done Wesco boots:

Not to hate on those boots, but I think they look a little odd to have a toe with that low profile and that super thick sole. Would look better with a single midsole and leather/rubber half sole.

    Rings

Mr Badger - I think those phrenology hands are a bigger deal in the UK...couldn't find a single one like yours on eBay US.

    Rings

Fashion Frank - that skull ring did not have any writing around it. It was a little big for any of my fingers, so rather than sizing it I sold it to another collector.
