One of my buddies wears a giant sombrero just to piss people off. He will also wear a fez to a formal function with a suit just for fun. He normally wears a cowboy hat though.

I agree, I work in TriBeca and I see more and more hats but Fedoras are super rare. The only time I saw one it was on a construction worker, old and beat up, but it looked good.
I had several old jackets relined by my local tailor and she did a great job, she even found some nice retro looking satin, I think any decent tailor can do it for you its not rocket science.
I've found it alot easier to find high quality chef jackets for some reason the lab coats I recently got were all polyester crap cut two sizes too small.

Don't know either, I steered clear of it but I got some with my Langlitz so I use theirs and it seems just fine. I figure they know what they're talking about.
When I spoke to Dave Hansen at Langlitz he said to specifically get into the stitching to prevent rain soaking through the seams. I don't think it ever caused a problem, I know people that have been using this stuff on their Langlitz jackets religously for over twenty years.
