My Bud from work just got back from Poland. He said it was Cooold, it reminded him of Dr Zhivago. He visited Auschwitz when they replaced the sign. He said the " i " from " Frei " was still missing. They are still searching the forest where they found it buried.
Today at work we listened to old Country & Western. Boy I was transported back to my childhood. My Pop listen to Jim Reeves, Charlie Pride, Marty Robbins to name a few. Today I heard songs I haven't heard in 40+ years. My Pop used to take us to Knotts Berry Farm (when it was free) to listen to...
You are correct on the Poloroids. I dug them out to check it. I have a very-good to mint pair. I also have an A-11 in the same condition. I bought a complete helmet 20 + years ago for 100.00 bucks. It is one of my prized possessions.
The second pair are Poloroid B-3 I believe. I also have a pair they were used by Tankers and Fighter pilots. They are similar to the ones issued in 'Nam. those are WWII because the strap goes through the lens. The later issue has a slot on the outside of the rubber frame.
Interesting photos, seems we copied the Brits again. I read years ago in "After the Battle" Magazine about these vests. It seems the American issued these as an "Invasion" pack. These I believe were pre-packed as a unit. I don't think they were issued empty to fill up. I think that's what the...
Check out "At The Front's" web page. It is under US Army Assault Vest they makes a copy. I was debating on getting one years back. I can't imagine going into the surf with one of those things on.
Funny how it's made a comeback, now they're known as Tac Vest. They are basically the same theory. I heard one of the complaints on the original were the grommets on the waist. These would not support the belt hooks on canteens or First Aid packs.
My friends and I were the ones who grew up Combat, Rat Patrol and you forgot "Garrisons Guerrilas". Saturday afternoon's always had some War Movie as this was the 60's. Some great Movies came from the 50s-60s. Then we did not have the entertainment kids have now. It was only imagination no XBox...
I bought the whole series through Amazon .com. I bought them a disc at a time. The nice thing about that was that a seller (forgot who) sent me an episode for free. It was a Thank You for doing business with them .
I see all these celebrities who had or have problems and can't help thinking of Matt 16:26. I apologize if I trod on dangerous grounds here. It's just my take on money and power.
Yep I live in California so I'm limited on the AR parts. I have built my 2 Pre-Bans in a the early Viet-Nam configurations. I have one with a Smooth side Upper and one with the A-1. Like most Kalifornians we're too paranoid to shoot them. You have no doubt heard of the Orange County Swat members...
I have 3 different mfgs Olyimpic (pre-ban), EA (Essential Arms, pre-ban) and a Eagle Arms (Armalite). AR-15s are fun to build and configure since I have 2 pre-ban I can build any design. ARs are modular so buy a good lower Receiver and a GOOD lower parts group (trigger, Safety etc.) this is...
I WAS shooting Wolf ( I know I know ! ) because I hate policing the brass up. Now that it's 18 bucks a box now (right !) I'm back to reloading. I have a ton of brass but the components have gone sky high also. Currently using HS6 for my 230 grainers any suggestions for 185s ?
If you are carrying it professionally (Cop) take it to a Gunsmith. Tell them your problem with your gun. They will be more than happy to fix for you. Most Gunsmiths are ex-Cops anyways. They understand the importance of a reliable gun. Most often they will give you good pricing.
The current Miltary wool sweater would be better. Some of the re-enactors I knew just changed out the buttons. You can still find original WWII buttons from At The Front. The only real problem is that the current sweater is a Brown instead of an OD. The sweaters are almost identical to the WWII...
I've been hunting for those trousers (M-47) for a while now. Sportsman guide had the Field Jackets (New) in XL . They were like 2 for 20.00 so I bought 4 jackets. I was at one time putting a FFL impression together and those trousers kept evading me. Strangely enough the Web Gear was easier to find.
