I guess i'll have to make 20th century spats for next season.
One thing that I have done is using buttons for the stirrups under-neath.
That way I can remove the straps for cleaning
I very often wear a blue scottish bonnet with a red band it is floppy enough to use as a visor to protect me from the sun and it keeps my head worm in cool weather. I have worn different variations for over 20 years now.

an overcoat should be longer than a suit or sport coat.
it doesnt look to bad at all just a minor sleeve adjustment the cuffs should be no problem for a good tailor.
