I have found in my study of history that civilization has always played host to snobs and dullards that have been pushed artificially to promenance in societies. "Hollywood" and all that emcompasses, is simply another passing phase of human history. I don't take any of too seriously.
Just wondering is anyone collects pistols old or otherwise? I've got only a few from WW2 and earlier. Haven't seen anyone discussing old weapons. Am curious.
About all we can see is lapels being cloned on a double-breasted suit for the retro look which is about as much as most folks care about in authenticity. There have been some high quality retro-style suits made in good wool blends since the 40s. I for one am not into buttons instead of a...
I just received this 40s vintage Stetson Royal Deluxe from an Ebay seller and find it in nearly new condition in original box. Seems that the ribbon is wrinkled in a couple places and I assume it's been in the box many years like that.
My question is does anyone have a way to straighten the...
Hohn in Covina- hi neighbor! Solid Citizen is right. Try Ebay 1st not only for hats but literally everything! It is possible on a regular basis to find NOS- new old stock, never worn hats from the 30s-50s for crazy prices like under $30-50 if you are patient. You could never touch them in a...
I used to pretty much like all of the above but time and health have altered my taste. I can drink about 3/4s of a 12 oz. beer in a month and that's it. That beer might be a Corona but favs are XXX, Modelo Negra, and Bohemia- all from Mexico.
From strictly a standpoint of topic, what could be more funny than Hitler and the 3rd Reich in a comedy. The original didn't make that big an impression on me so if I see the new one I figure it will fly at least with me. Now for a Hogans' Heros full length movie!
MK- that's the first thing I said, "I want the DVD so I can slowly pan around the NYC repro skyline!":)
Hemingway- you should see it once in the theatre with full sound technology. When Kong roars you'll imagine you smell his bad breath from the seats!
It was a long film but I've...
I've got a 50s made? leather in the safari style which is odd. Good for a "car coat" since it is short in length. Thin lining so no good for real cold weather.
Hey Biltmore! Yeah when hot weather is in full swing in Texas you sweat through you clothes by 9AM!!
The casual/work style jackets are timeless. The 30's style is identical to each decade's hence. My uncles' bodyshop work jacket from the 40s-50s is the exact same as one I had in the 70s...
We used mostly cloth on our daughters in the 70s when, of course, disposable were available. Disposables come in handy for away from home excursions when the logistics of soiled cloth ones is problematic.
I watched the VHS of the original uncut King Kong for 1 ?Ǭ? hours then saw the 2005 film which lasted 3 hours Saturday. If you see it get ready to be edge-of-the-seat anxious for 2 hours as the story unfolds.
There are few times we could have said that a remake is better than an original...
Is the Chevy Vette a negative contraction of Chevrolet Corvette too? We shorten everything including the phrase "politically correct" to "PC." The two friends I have had of Japanese descent both used the word "Jap" referring to their people. One shared my interest in aircraft and WW2 combat...
While every generation has felt singled out as living in the toughest times each has also haughtily swaggered about the fact that they were THE culmination of knowlwdge and accomplishment as well.
Wellington boots are as old as the hills and have been worn by successive generations. They aren't dressy but they aren't serious lace-up heavy-duty wear. Foremen, gentleman ranchers, and a vast variety of guys with jobs that required footwear of a compromising nature saw the use of Wellingtons.
In a country that is 85% christian in some form or another why are we being compelled to be politically correct and NOT say "Merry Christmas" and ARE urged to say "Happy ____")- insert festive day name here. If I am not offended by someone saying "Happy________" why should they become hostile...
