Aren't they fun, with the gaudy architecture? I usually go to the one in Hyannis (always associate them with Cape Cod and vacation). One of my favorite things to do is buy .99 rolls of Christmas wrap in July, but I've found some unusual stuff there too.
LOL! I'm on a clothing diet right now after binging for most of this year, so hopefully we'll steer clear of each other!
I swear by the Rago products--pretty and retro looking, they wear well and (most importantly) are effective without being uncomfortable. I used to get the long line...
I love that picture Big Man--you've got some good genes there from Mr. Brown! I like Sarah's epitaph.
When I go to the town my grandmother grew up in I always make a trip to the cemetery to tidy up and think about everyone there. I don't find it morbid at all, but my mother does!
I love this photo so much I ripped it out of a magazine so I could put it on my bulletin board.
I haven't seen this one before. Why don't guys take girls boating anymore? I was so born in the wrong era (sigh).
I really liked the progression of Kitty and Walter's relationship, how...
I used to do this with my grandmother too and, somehow, it's always the spring in my memory. We'd stop by my grandmother's cousin's and pick flowers from the enormous lilac bushes at his house--white, pale blue, pale pink and, my favorite, those deep reddish purple ones that were the color of...
I usually wear an 18 in modern clothes (44-35-46). It's true that a lot of the vintage clothing out there is in smaller sizes, but I started being able to find a fair number of nice things once I got into the size 22 range and lower. I do wish more of those nice 1930's/'40's Lane Bryant things...
Great clock PSG and what a bargain GG!
Here's my kitchen clock:
You can't see it too well in the photo but the corners are beveled and the deco line motif appears at 12, 3, 6 and 9.
I got it a couple of years ago at The Christmas Tree shop. How to describe The Christmas Tree...
Thanks to everyone who sent me good wishes (especially one who knows who they are)--I bucked up, applied some makeup and had a good interview. I also got stronger painkillers today, which has been very helpful.
Ooh, I love gloves! I've dyed mildly stained ones in the past with some success. I spot clean the dirty spots and then use good old Rit dye. If there's a generous hem at the wrist I'll cut a bit and test the dye on that before doing the whole glove. Good luck if you try it yourself.
Thank you so much KilroyCD for sharing your expertise, I really appreciate your help. Very cool that it is pre-war!
The plot thickens--I spoke to the folks at the shop this morning and I was told the bike will be for sale in "a few weeks" when they change the window display. They didn't...
Great minds, Paddy! Did you like The Painted Veil (ETA I just found your comments on the Painted Veil thread so never mind)?
Also, what did you think of Black Book--I was really intrigued by that one.
