I agree with the last few posters. I, normally, remove my hat indoors as a matter of courtesy. It's interesting how society has rebelled against things like this claiming it was all arbitrary to begin with. I normally leave that hat ON in grocery stores, big-box retailers and such as it is too...
It seems that the 1960's and 1970's saw a real backlash against "authority" and other conventions Simply "being the right thing to do" or being "polite" was considered repressive.....
I work at a university, and the president has decided that the men need to remove their hats indoors. And...
Water helps? Interesting.
I'm red-haired and fair, which means I burn a lot, too. So any advice is welcome. Tell me more?
Sorry about the burn as well.
Quite interesting. I'd like to do vacations like that.
One day I'd love to do a vacation using only old Federal Highways. U.S. 61 begins just about1/2 mile from where I'm sitting at work. I can drive out the parking lot, get on it and drive all the way to the Canadian Border.
If I drive to...
I've only got complements recently. Here at home and at work, three or four complements. Same on the Disney cruise last week, and I had JUST bought a real Indy for me and my boys just outside the Indy show at DisneyMGM Studios.
Guys, this thread has been great.
I'm raised Roman Catholic from New Orleans, and it SEEMS that everyone simply went to Church. I'm only 39. But I've been involved (I'm a musician) at two parishes that recently celebrated jubilees of one sort or another.
ALL the old photos show packed Churches...
I aim to match my shoes/belt and hat. So I've been wearing brown belt and shoes a great deal, lately, since I have four brown hats and only a black hat for balance. I'm rather new to this, and haven't been able to acquire a grey, just yet.
I DID just get an Indiana Jones at Disney MGM Studios...
OK, I didn't read the whole thread. I saw the very beginning invoking Spiridon and had to begin laughing. lol lol He introduced me to this site, I'm a longtime poster, moderator over at Cigar Weekly, and we're good friends.
I'm going to go back and read the rest of the thread, now. But I use...
I"m a cigar smoker, there are now inserts that go inside the lighter. Thus you can convert a standard Zippo into a bona fide cigar lighter. I don't have either, yet, but I have friends who use these and love them. They're called Z-Plus by a comapany called Blazer. It turns the Zippo into a...
I pulled out an extra Kiwi shoe shine brush, last night. It's clean, I hadn't used it before. It's very effective. I used it on the same black Kensington, and it's really starting to shape up, and get clean. A few more times and it'll be downright formal. :)
Much like the tattoo fashion, today. One day, these will also be an anachronism, if you will. Or artless bodies will be the new "individualism" or "self-expression" that piercings and tattoos are today.
I love the images of old ball parks where all the men are in fedoras and smoking cigars...
Well, I just stood up, pulled out my wallet and put my business card inside my sweat band. Now that I read it's tradition, I like it even more. Thanks for the heads-up
I agree that with the decline of civility, the "Like Hell it's Yours..." could be another step on that slow road to oblivion...
What would you like to bet she knows good and well how to pronounce it when she walks the protest march?
Is a "newsboy" the proper moniker for what I call a flat cap? Or a "bebop hat?"
