It's too muggy for felt today here in NYC, but I couldn't resist!
Perry and Charlie, I like pineapples and palm trees too! Great combos, colors harmonize beautifully! I'll have to do my Aloha shirts on the weekend!
This is an important question for many newcomers. I was in the same situation a few months ago.
That feeling of oddness and self consciousness kept me away from hats for years. But 3 months ago I had a small basal cell skin cancer on my face. It's good now, and the derm surgeon told me...
Shangas - great find! I've been thinking of a kind of beater fedora, comfortably worn so I wouldn't have to baby it - and even though yours is a Christy's of London, it looks good for that for that! But it could dress up too!
BroCave - that curl looks rakish on you, sir! Thanks for the...
Daniele, is the shape of that chapeau a European one? The overall lines remind me of the Alpine or Tyrolean shape. Is there a relationship there?

Mach, like Daniele, I too like the color combination. The hat looks like it could be very dressy. But you are mixing it really well with a casual shirt!
That's something I'm really appreciating about this forum. It broadens my perspective on hat-wearing. How and with what. Way more options...
Thanks guys! For some reason that color reminds me of Milans, a type of straw hat I didn't know about till I saw them here. Hmmm, next summer....

Charlie, nice combination. There are tones in the shirt that match the granite of the felt!
I had heard of the straw boater riots. I'll be safely in felt by then, and will try to restrain my violent impulses if I see wayward tourists wearing street-vendor straw fedoras!

Nice variety today.
Joao, what is the brim width on the Big Country?
Eric, interesting to see a fedora confident posed with gym shoes!
Mach, I like that Panama!
Alan, I really do like that ribbon!
LL, nice to see a homburg!

I like the curl to that brim, and the impressionist Aloha shirt too! I tried to take an indoor picture - yuck! Too much yellow light. Later this week maybe!
Can anyone recommend a wide-brimmed straw Western? A brim over 4.25"? I'm thinking of it as a sun hat for hiking and UV protection. Hopefully it would have a brim that could lie relatively flat or down. I like the taco and George Straight brim shapes, but not so much for sun protection...
