Cheap Suits: How to I.D.?
Funny story, Matei! Hats off to you for having the nerve to tell it. :eusa_clap
Question for Loungers:
For "suit newbies" like myself, there are plenty of great threads on F.L. about what to look for.
What are the subtleties of what to avoid in a vintage...
If anyones interested the book is "House & Garden's Complete Guide to Interior Decoration", really good, includes floor furniture layouts (which I mainly got the book for), scale & proportion, everything, 1942.
(sometimes you have to go "by the book" to get away from a "tacky flea market...
Henry,
These are all from a 1942 book so there's nothing after 42; they're probably in fact mostly from the 1930's.
This should generate some ideas so you can come up with something original & unique or your own, but with a distinctive 1930s - early 40s dignity...
Post 'em decodoll!

Here's one of a matched pair - my grandfather's, from the 1920's, reminds me of their family room - isn't that something how you never get over missing your grandparents
Fantastic!

Seeking a nice coffee table type book of pictures of swing dancers. Preferrably original 1930s-40s photos, but could be modern also.
Is there such a thing? Or would you have to collect pics yourself off the web , print, & bind?
If not, where can one find pics in any form of original...
Great thread idea!
Ditto music & good deeds.

And that terminally cute German young lady who's started even asking other folks to move...

TRANSFORMERS! The version they made that actually...
Second that. Look for "Califone" and "audiotronics" and "rheem".
Can't reccomend the repros: But if you do buy one, try to buy one at a store where you can return it if need be. Several friends I know bought one either not working out of the box, or just stopped playing (in the middle of a...
WHOA! Man Brad that is Way Cool! Love the idea, saved the photos...
Thanks all for the ideas, hiring a pianist sounds like a great idea too, cigarette girls Way Cool but don't forsee throwing that fancy a party - fun food for thought though :-)

Ramble On, Doc, that's what this joint is for - yep, Fantasy's (still available?) vinyl LP reissue of Chet's Riverside LP of fantastic cool late-night ballads, "Chet" - great...
