    Cheap suit!

Cheap Suits: How to I.D.? Funny story, Matei! Hats off to you for having the nerve to tell it. :eusa_clap Question for Loungers: For "suit newbies" like myself, there are plenty of great threads on F.L. about what to look for. What are the subtleties of what to avoid in a vintage...

If anyones interested the book is "House & Garden's Complete Guide to Interior Decoration", really good, includes floor furniture layouts (which I mainly got the book for), scale & proportion, everything, 1942. (sometimes you have to go "by the book" to get away from a "tacky flea market...

    Show us your lamps!

Henry, These are all from a 1942 book so there's nothing after 42; they're probably in fact mostly from the 1930's. This should generate some ideas so you can come up with something original & unique or your own, but with a distinctive 1930s - early 40s dignity...

    Need SwingDance photo book

Seeking a nice coffee table type book of pictures of swing dancers. Preferrably original 1930s-40s photos, but could be modern also. Is there such a thing? Or would you have to collect pics yourself off the web , print, & bind? If not, where can one find pics in any form of original...

    My cheerful discussion...

Great thread idea! Ditto music & good deeds. Also, finding you have the courage to take the first steps towards a total complete career change (i.e. possibly starting all over in school again)... And that terminally cute German young lady who's started even asking other folks to move...

Your favorite toys as a kid?

Yup - Legos, Legos, Legos. Even combined some of the old "expert builder sets" with gears, with a synchronous AC motor & color-striped flourescent tube clear cylinder cover, to make a color wheel for the '80s 45 jukebox a few years back. TRANSFORMERS! The version they made that actually...

    Fave radio crooner?

Thanks Root - cross-referencing their Bing discography from that website for a set of titles from the 30s with Title searches on Amazon, came up with this CD - just about every one's a winner, over half I'd put on a "must have" list, and its got that Killer Diller track, "Bob White": Man don't...

Ramble On, Doc, that's what this joint is for - yep, Fantasy's (still available?) vinyl LP reissue of Chet's Riverside LP of fantastic cool late-night ballads, "Chet" - great... Yeah Topcat, Ben Webster... and Jackie Gleason's slow late-40s-feeling ballads with Bobby Hackett's trumpet...
