Great new pattern from Wearing History. Lauren is amazing and I'm going to make a few pairs of these :)

I can't believe I've never posted in this thread!
I used to lurk here back in 2003 and was an avid reader until I became and active member in 2005. I originally found the Fedora Lounge link through Atomic as I was a subscriber.
Thanks LD and Lauren. I will remember the ease advice. I've already fixed some vintage clothes and altered the sizes of some things that didn't fit me using the dress form. Soooo much easier when you can pin with the garment on the body shape. Makes me WANT to sew all the time again! Trying to...
Just a question about adjustable dressmakers dummies. I aquired a brand new one this week for $70 - bargain. It has never been used and the lady said it had been in the wardrobe for 6 years. I notice that on all the newest dummies online or in sewing stores they have a hem-measurer attached via...
I finally got an adjustable sewing dummy this week!! Brand new for $70 out of the community paper. Woohoo! So....now i can get back into sewing again and mend all the vintage stuff I've been meaning to fix and and get some projects started!! So much easier with the dummy!
It's lovely. I've actually had a lady in her 80s give me a lovely 30s hat and hand bag and some vintage sewing notions because she knew "I would appreciate it". I met her after we (The Perth Swing Dance Society) did a Lindy Hop performance in a nursing home one Xmas. She said her children didn't...
Yeah...with plenty of slap ;)
So, what did we all think? Interesting start to the new season. Very understated and 6 months to a year ahead of the last ep I would say. Don is a very frustrated, angry man it seems. The fact that he's hiring hookers is quite surprising too, he's always been able...
I hate that too. I was always taught to pronounce things properly. I'm from the country originally and my dad is pretty ocker but mum isn't. Shortening things is a funny Aussie/British trait but doing that doesn't make you ocker. Depends how you say it ;) No cossies here in WA...we say bathers...
Ha ha. That's funny. I reeeeally have to try hard to speak in a broad accent. I only do it as a piss-take...hehe. "Looka moiiiiii!!!" I mean I think I sound Australian but in LA most people thought I was english. I have to stop saying 'jumper' insted of 'sweater' when I'm in the US. People just...
One of my favourite dresses is my 1930s black satin, bias evening gown. It has amazing metal gold thread flowers embroidered on the sleeves (it's actually a metal thread) and gold fabric stitched into the sleeves as a contrast with gold fabric I have never seen anywhere else. I wore it to dinner...
I've been dancing Lindy for 11 years. From way back when the revival of the scene began here in Perth in 1998. I know most of the well known Aussie teachers - only because I've been around since we all started and have seen the scene grow huge over time in Australia. We were all learning...
No Cary Grant OR Tyrone Power!??? Now Tyrone was sexy...gay but sexy! I think Jimmy Stewart was too! And what about Tony Curtis! Thank goodness Gene Teirney was in there. She was stunning, as was Heddy Lamar. And where's Jake Gyenhall? He is sexy as!!! And Colin Firth...Mr Darcy is sexy!
Russel...
I've been been enjoying watching the original series of 'Brideshead Revisited' on ABC2 again. It was such a long series but it worked so well because it included so much detail. And all those lovely 20s and 30s outfits....drool.
