Almost anything by the great Fats puts a smile on my face!
I think the tune that comes to me unbidden the most often is "Tuxedo Junction". Maybe it's because I've heard so many great versions of it.
I just thought they were seconds as the back of the fedora seems to be missing  . Joking aside, even though it does look like the aforementioned Afrika Korps headgear, it was neat to see the way they were made.
I'll second that emotion. I got talked into signing up to Facebook and I never use the darn thing. It just seems like a facsimile of life to me, as if it just skims over the surface. I actually got a message on FB informing me (and the world at large, so it seems) of a death in the...
I'd shower in bra and knickers if I could! Well, maybe not, but the thought of going out in public with no underclothing is not something that I could imagine. I mean, what if I got run over or something?!! Commando, hell no!
I've never heard the one about it being unhealthy not, ahem...
Call me sad, but I actually have a War and Peace length set of terms to be excluded in advanced search, several of them because they are complete time-wasters (style, inspired, Topshop, '80's...) and pull up absolute crap, but also terms which irritate me for one reason or another...
I remembered this thread and thought this might be of interest. Ms Marsha Hunt is scheduled to be a guest at the 5th Annual Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention in Maryland. The convention looks like fun; wish I weren't stuck here! It runs the 23-25th of September. A tad late I know, but I just...
That was such a beautiful, quiet little film - I love love love it! I've not seen the American "re-imagining" (quiet guffaw), and don't usually slam something outright unless I've seen it, but past experience with American remakes of perfectly good foreign films tells me it's probably something...
Not a scary series per se, there was one episode of a show called Origin of Superstition, called The Boogie Man, which scared the living crap out of me. I love my spooky OTR stories; I fall asleep to them every night!
This may be another thread entirely, but now that you mention it, I really don't get the Marx Brothers, either. But here's the rub: it only applies when they are together. If I see them individually, particularly when they play an instrument, I've been known to sit there with a look of...
Me three - 2001 - yawn. I don't really get the Godfather trilogy, either. Star Wars, Forrest Gump, E.T., nah. I have a really really hard time with 1) Nouvelle Vague films, 2) almost any musical where they break into song and dance anywhere but on the stage - read most 50's musicals 3)...
I actually have a couple of patterns incredibly similar to the last one, and am only waiting to find "that special fabric" to make it up - something that will take some wear and tear and be breathable for ballroom classes but still have a lovely drape and swinginess...but that's for another...
Had dinner last week at a restaurant, the Blue Elephant, which serves Royal Thai cuisine, and my dinner companion ordered a Bangkok Iced Tea, which I think was made with real vanilla tea. I had a sip and it had a gorgeous deep and rich vanilla taste with just a hint of tea and whatever else...
I'm not much of a glove gal, only outside in winter. Nice idea, though. Plus I teach in gyms, so that wouldn't work in that context (although it would be funny to try!).
On the other hand it has without a doubt saved me a lot of money...I'll see that gorgeous blouse/sweater/top/dress across the shop floor, fall in love, and then when I go to pick it up and compare the sleeve length to my arm, well...[huh]
So often I think, is there any way of sewing something...
I may be the cheese standing alone, for I can't bear 3/4 sleeves! They drive me batty! I've got a few of them and I'm always trying to pull them down. I'm always on the lookout for long-sleeved 40's dresses in cotton or linen or something that doesn't require dry-cleaning and it's like snipe...
