Hi Kimberly,
Smart choice for a player. Webcors / Webster Chicago's - They were one of the biggest and best makers of the 40s-60s. Built like tanks. Seen pics of their earlier 78 changers installed in a number of sea vessels; they seemed a favorite of the armed forces.
Ran a...
Same here... I've had so many northerners insist, when they ask where I'm from and I tell them I'm a native North Carolinian, "No, you didn't grow up in North Carolina! You don't have an accent! Connecticut?"
All I can say is, "sorry, you're mistaken..." [huh]
lol :eusa_clap :eusa_clap Thank You, Olive Bleu. You make it sound so Classy!
I'd share stories if I had any, but rarely drink, and never get Really drunk enough to do anything more entertaining than what I do already when sober.
Now Being in a roomful of drunk friends, That's cheap, easy...
Cool, an expert :)
Nick, I'm interested in findin out more about 1940s-50s comics that are in the "fast cars, dames, and crime and punishment" genre, but NOT in the "oozing bloody corpse zombies and/or deformed creature babies" genre, which seems to be mostly what I saw at a recent comic book...
Raleigh, here... though currently my vintage-ism lies only in my DVD & music collection (no hats or suits), so wouldn't really be able to join in on dress-up occasions.
Amen to that, 'Guy, as I said before in my first week or so at the lounge I think it was. And what better spot for a remote broadcast.
And in honor of the bartenders, I'd like to refrain from playing Little Richard's "Dizzy Miss Lizzie". :p
You know friends, something we all have, but we...
lol got a pic of me somewhere, age 5 at the mall, with one of those cardboard stand-ups of The Fonz w/ face cut out, where you stand behind it...
That's really cool that you got an autographed pic of your hero :eusa_clap
"Heyyyyy, Checkout the Avatar" , I'd never noticed that... even have an early-50s "Fireball" jukebox in the dining room lol
Just need to figure how to rig it so it starts playing when I pound it...
Thanks Paisley for taking the time out for all the tips, sounds like good advice I've not seen anywhere else. Saved for future reference :) Really want to have a go at swing dancing, when time allows; I'm sure this will be of great help for myself & others.
PS. Having taken general ballroom...
Don't think there were any Woolworth's' left when I was a kid, but hearing the descriptions sounds just like the King's department store, one of my few pre-preschool memories. Yes, with a lunch "grill", where Mom would get me a pan-fried-in-butter grilled cheese sandwich & a Reese's peanut...
Rooster, both the house and the barn are the stuff crowded suburb homeowners dream of. Looks like something straight out of a Frank Capra movie :eusa_clap :eusa_clap Very nice.
Ditto for the kitchen, Leani. Waiting for Donna Reed to come around the corner...

In reading that review, it strikes me the modern moviegoer who hasn't seen lots of old movies has an advantage watching it now; I *hadn't* seen all those gags before; they were all new to me when I saw this. That's what made it so different (first b&w movie I think I actually sat down & watched...
I had 2 cats growing up (both strays - also a stray dog - strays seemed to gravitate towards me, maybe it's because while other kids threw rocks, i threw food :) ) , both tabbys & very friendly, but one would go to sleep on your lap, have nightmares, and tear out of the room, claws & all...
