I definitely know there is one at UCLA, where I would like to go (who knows if that will happen!), and I believe it's an MLIS degree. I haven't really researched other grad schools that offer a specialization in Archival Studies yet, as I've only recently become interested in it. I'm going to...
In regards to how the "old timers" treat the newbies, I'd have to say I've found the Lounge to be a very welcoming place. Being as I'm still a relative newbie, and am quite young (20) and have only been seriously collecting for a year, I have at times, felt a little intimidated. But, honestly, I...
Everyone looks so cute in their suits! Maybe I'll post mine tonight!
Mine is a 1950's (I think) junior's bikini! It's pale yellow with white kooky rick rack type stuff all over it and has a giant metal zipper up the butt! I don't think I'll be swimming in it anytime soon, but it is pretty cute.
So yesterday I went and got all my hair chopped off because I'm leaving in a week for the Netherlands, where I'll be living for 5 months, and I'd rather not pay for a haircut while I'm there.
It's pretty drastic, my hair was probably 3 inches below my collarbone before (when straight)...
Right now I'm a junior at UCLA. I'm an art major and am minoring in women's studies. I started when I was 17 and will probably end up graduating when I'm 22.
I'm thinking about going to grad school for Information Studies with a specialization in Archival Studies.
I love the Mutter Museum. I dragged my grandma along with me when we were in Philadelphia for the day. Somehow I always take the poor woman to things she'd rather not see -- the Mutter Museum and travelling torture exhibition we saw in Atlantic City among them.
Anyway, I'm finally getting...
Not clothing, but I decided to get crafty and put some of my vintage photo collection to good use. I used photographs from a single family album from the 1960's to make blank greeting cards. Here's one of my favorites:
I'm selling them at my Etsy shop if you're interested...
Not all rockabilly girls don't know what's up though! But I think there are a ton of newbies to the scene who are more into it to look cute at shows for their boyfriends than who are into it for the music, fashion, history, whatever. At least that's the way it is in LA. I swear, I go to shows in...
What everyone else said! I would love some easy to care for day dresses. And some high-waisted jeans that were more straight-legged than wide-legged (don't know how vintage that is though). I'm pretty short and I think wide-legged jeans make me look even shorter.
Blouses would be LOVELY too...
When I was about 12, I taught myself HTML just by looking at the sources for other web pages and experimenting with changing numbers and codes. I learned a lot and actually had some of my web design featured a book about young women and media.
I'm not very knowledgeable about makeup, so my day and nighttime looks are pretty much the same! Blush, powder, concealer under the eyes (sometimes), occasionally a subtle shimmery eyeshadow, mascara and bright red lipstick are the norm for me.
I'll sometimes throw in liquid eyeliner for day...
August is usually the one month out of the summer where I'm forced to live with my parents, so my birthday 8/26, is usually rather uneventful. We go out to dinner, which is nice, but none of my friends or my boyfriend are around.
Actually, for my birthday this year one of my friends from LA...
Fleur, you are cute as a button! I love the short hair on you! How long is your hair when it's not curled? I'm going to be chopping off quite a few inches myself soon enough.
Well I'm glad I didn't choose to study abroad in the UK! I'll be leaving for the Netherlands soon, I hope I don't encounter any of that over there. Somehow I doubt it though, all the Dutch exchange students I met over here were ridiculously nice and friendly. Then again, they did choose to come...
I have the same waist to hip ratio as you too. I remember when I first started wearing vintage and dresses would accentuate my waist and hips I was traumatized! I thought I looked crazy! I appreciate it now though. :)
