I've done the old tan canvas BA tent, period hexy stove, soldiers accoutrements and 'style' rations.
But I draw the line at sleeping wrapped in a great coat/under a blanket. A carrimat and Nanok SF10 are cunning deployed after dark.
I have a real-life one, best worshipped from afar.
All the beauiful ladies of the Lounge of course
For a vintage crush, I'm afraid I'll have to be very run-of-the-mill and say Audrey Hepburn. My modern one might be considered 'odd' I suppose.
Tamsin Greig...
It's cool insofar as the venue management say they want people who like what I play..... 'Cos they do....
I can be a wee bit dictatorial.
Must say though, I'm enjoying being able to play my wee 'niche'.
Not really a dancing venue.....
I nearly bit at one point when playing Basie and someone asked for something a bit quicker,,,,,,:eusa_doh:
Think the customers are just missing the point a wee bit.
Last night was better.
Thanks for the suggestions.
DJ, and more 'listen-y' than 'dance-y'.
Sort of solved the problem last evening by using 'retro swing' - the '90's and later versions. Seemed to go down okay, but I'd prefer to use the real thing.
Jerry must rate as just about my favourite dealer.
In the past, I've ordered from him (in CA) and from firms in the UK at the same time only for the package from the US to arrive first!
And to me, the mark of a really quality business is how they handle things when you do have a problem...
After ideas again, want some really fast swing-y, jazz-y things to play tonight. Last week had a few comments about the majority of the music being a bit slow. And for breaking in a new crowd.... I'm tempted to agree with them.
I have a repro British Army greatcoat which gets a fair bit of day-to-day wear during the deepest winter.
Need to get 'Rifles buttons for it though
Google "collings and heal" - Guy I know who puts together watches, mostly trades on the Bay of E.
I have one of the white faced auto's that will pass rather nicely for a WWII vintage ATP.
I say.. Are those examples of those new fangled transistorised wireless sets?
Never done the amateur ticket but have been a dedicated SWL for more years than I care to remember FRG7700 & Lowe HF225.
