I have an old boar bristle brush with a wooden handle, but I don't dare to use it whenever I have any product in my hair because I don't know how to clean the brush. When using water, won't I ruin the wooden handle? It's kinda silly to have this formidable brush and hardly ever use it...

Thanks, I will get a ribbon to try it with asap - I got ribbons in about a dozen colors in my sewing box, but no black.
I'm still not sure if it won't look awkward when the ribbon is wound around the whole shoe, but I have to give it a try. I'll let you know when I get any results.
the name really is silly, but the idea isn't. I have already tried this the other day with shoe laces. It worked, didn't look good though. Trying it with a pretty ribbon and winding around the heel a bit in order to make it look "on purpose" is worth a try.
btw, these are the delinquents...
I never saw these, thanks for showing me. It seems a very good idea to use "invisible" material in order not to change the look of the shoes. I'm afraid though that it might not work for my shoes since they are partly (fake) suede and the plastic/rubber band might show too much (these straps...
Thanks for your advice, W-D Forties. You're right about not having much to lose. I only want to give the most promising method a try because I really really want to wear these shoes.
I just put 2 pairs of leather heel stoppers inside, now there are are 3 pairs of heel stoppers plus a gel...
A question to all you creative gals:
Does anyone have experience with sewing straps to shoes? I have a pair of high heels without straps that look so lovely, but I can't wear them because I always slip out. They are the correct size, it's because of the shape of my heels. I'm tempted to try...
Hi ladies,
the pencil skirt thread made me want to show you one of two skirts that my aunt has altered for me:
my first real pencil skirt, a classy gray glencheck / prince of wales dessin. I inherited it from a friend's mom only a few weeks ago, it was way too big and looked like a potato...
That's a gentleman, to wear one with him just in case a lady requires it. I don't know this kind of men :(
I have a bunch of vintage hankies from my grandma and her neighbour. I feel most of them are to cute to use at all (besides to show off).
The reason why I don't use real handkerchiefs...
Call me daredevil: I'm trying to fix it myself. Not all alone though, I logged into a record player board and receive a great deal of help.
Those Brigitte magazines are marvellous! Is there another picture of the pink dress in the middle inside the magazine? Is the top a jacket or a stole...
:D well put
That's what I'm telling myself - it's a pretty piece of furniture, I can listen to the radio (well, at least one station), I can put a flower pot on it, sit and look at it dreamily, show it to visitors. I shouldn't put myself in a hurry. If I want to listen to my records, I'll just...
I agree, it would be the best to give it to a pro. But I'm still reluctant to do so because I've already spent money on the radiogram that actually wasn't on my budget (and I had a working record player before, I just gave it away because it didn't fit in my 50s/60s home). Nobody can tell you...
I hope it can be fixed. Unfortunately, I have no experience with repairing technical devices. I have a "service manual" with instructions how to work on what, but I don't understand all the technical vocabulary. I'm not so sure if it's a good idea to work on it without really knowing what I do -...
I'd say besides the record player problem it's in okay condition over all. The outside (wood, doors etc) is pretty good. The record player has some wear-offs (sorry if I use the wrong words, my head doesn't work quite right today). The radio does work but with the built-in antenna, it doesn't...
I can't believe grown-ups (or almost grown ups) would make fun of a hair color. I mean, I can believe it because I believe what you say and I know how people can be. But I can't BELIEVE it, you know. It's so f** stupid! :eeek:
Making fun of superficial things like appearance is just out of the...
I've already posted this in the display case - if a double post is a bad thing, please remove, bartenders.
I got this radiogram at a household clearance. Unfortunately, the record player played only five or six of my records, before it died.
Or maybe, it's just in a coma. At least I...
happy or sad - sometimes just a wink of an eye
sometimes, you can go from happy to sad in just a moment (don't you hate when that happens?)
the day before yesterday, I got a very cute radiogram at a household clearance, for a reasonable price. It worked fine, I took it home, played some...
