The spikes are to keep the securely in place KitKat. All the clips I have, have them.I use them on most of my vintage clothing as well as wool, but I don't tend to use them on things like silks, chiffons etc.
I have about 6 pairs of 1930s ones. I usually wear them on the collars of vintage evening gowns or on vintage style cardigans or shrugs to give them a classier look. Most of mine are silver metal with rhinestones inset but I do have a marcasite pair as well. My fav is one that is a bout 10 cm...
There is a huge ballroom on the top floor that I have seen photos of. I'd like the see the building restored, not 'developed' with new crappy architecture. Why can't they just spend money on restoration any more :(
I know there are more than 27 Aussies and Kiwis using TFL. I thought I'd bump up my old poll thread to see how many are here now. I see quite a few of us have joined in the last year or so. ;) Go and add your vote...
Thought I'd revive this thread as we've had many new additions to the FL in the past year :) And i know there are WAAAAY more than 27 Aussies on the forum too.
Keeping my face out of the sun and always wearing a foundation that contains a spf of at least 15 when outside.
I haven't actively tanned my face since I was about 17 and this has lead to me having very few wrinkles, and living in Australia people are taught to be very sun-smart. Most people...
These are rather lovely. They come in black as well.

Happened to me in LA last year with Matt Deckard and another friend Nathan Marsak coming out of Grand Central Station. I saw myself on a photographers website as someone I know saw me in the pic and tagged me on Facebook. Was weird to not even be aware that they were there taking the pic.
Just think 30s. Most ladies hair was on the nape of the neck or shoulders when curled at that time. I love the waves and tight curls of the 30s and I can even achieve them with a bob. I much prefer the 30s look these days.
Sorry to say that I don't like them. They are never long-lasting on me. Neither their foundation or lipsticks. Maybe you will have a better time with them :)
Lillywhites still have stores in the UK. They sell sporting shoes mainly. Fenestrier was a French company and they made a lot of sport shoes too, like golf shoes. Here is a poster that looks like it has the brown shoes on it :) The brown shoes are most likely walking shoes.
Looks like an early 1940s hostess gown to me. Lovely pieces but not something that was worn outside the home back in the day. Any vintage dress/romper that has a zip down the front is usually a hostess gown and should not be worn to a formal event...even though they look like formal gowns. Just...
Ooh, I love this. #0s dresses are so flattering. I would love to make the long-sleeved version in black silk backed crepe. You could even make another contrasting one colour belt to change the look as well.
Lovley! Good 'ol 6239 :) I made 2 dresses from this pattern back in 2000 when I was wearing a lot of 40s stuff. Made them out of of swooshy crepe for dancing. Still lovely and a classic cut. I remember so many girls making this dress at the time and the variations were awesome. One even made it...
Just bought a black 1920s silk velvet opera coat. Great price and in really good condition. Has a classic 20s shawl collar and shirred bell shaped sleeves. The lining is intact and is grey silk. I'll be wearing this to the Beaux Arts ball in 2 weeks. Such a classic piece. I can see myself...
