BTW, this is an awesome idea for storage, with a nice vintage feel...with the added bonus of being a mirror :) My friend actually has the tall floor mirror version. gets all the stuff off the top of your dresser to keep it uncluttered and is a really great way to organise and store things! My...
For me, it would all be Art Deco styling. I like the simplicity and streamlining of the 20s and 30s and my house is full of old Deco pieces. Wooster's apartment (from the series 'Jeeves and Wooster') is my ideal, except I would use some light duck-egg greens in walls etc. It's actually not...
They were pretty accurate in the last 2 series costume-wise. Tends to be quite important in BBC series. I like that they do such a great job. I've been quite impressed with the costuming so far.
My latest article about 1930s Beach Pyjamas on Swing Fashionista. I co-write for this blog.

Series two ended in 1919, so by the time the series 3 ends we may have gone forward 4 years to 1923. Early 20s dresses were still calf length. It's amazing that so many people don't realise the skirts in the 20's only raised to the knee between 1926 and 1928 then went back to below the knee...
Just scored two great pairs of shoes on ebay. One was advertised as 30s but they are definatley mid to late 20s. The others are green velvet from mid to late 40s. If either don't fit me, I will be selling them n my etsy store when it opens soon :)
Also won this amazing 1920s, beaded crepe...
I've already watched Season 2 as I downloaded it. Has some great twists and turns but so many plot-lines going on. The fashion is slowly changing as they ebb towards the 20s. Season 3 will be well and truly into the 1920s and it will be wonderful to see what they do with the costuming then.
Stay in South Beach, that is where all the Art Deco hotels are and there are sooooo many. I was there in 2006 and did some great walks and photo shoots of all the buildings. I didn't do any vintage shopping there as I only stayed at SB.
Yeah. Just as with the old waving clips, you need to feed more hair through to get the nice rounded waves. Just use the end of a teasing comb for that. Would work better as a wet set as well, rather than just setting spray.
I have tried to order it but the international Pay-pal wont allow me too :(
Oh no!! Damn friends who never return things!! I have a friend in the LA vintage scene that has the same dress as this except it is blue. We are both amazed that there are two dresses made by the same company that still exist! Mine even has the original belt.
As a dress, it's too short for the 40s. Shorts and the beach playsuits were worn that short, but not dresses for everyday wear. Has a very 60s feel to me.
This is not a good pic or me or the dress, but it's my fav vintage 30s gown. Silk velvet with square studded areas at the neckline and sleeves. Cut on the bias with slit balloon sleeves. I'm also wearing my 1930s marcasite butterfly brooch. Wish I had a better pic.
Yes, I have used mine to alter the neck shape of dresses too by stretching the corners out a little. Definatley seen that done in lots of old pics as well.
Hmm...I might buy one of these. I've seen many pics of the old ones from the 20s and they are pretty much the same concept. So glad someone has come up with a modern version. I don't know whether to get the full one or the half head though.
As for the side part (which is what I normally do)...
