My eyesight is horrendous. I've worn glasses since I was 7 and contacts since I was about 19. I like to switch off between the two - it's more fun that way. ;) Also, in contacts, you can't shoot someone That Look‚Ñ¢ over the tops of your frames. :D
I couldn't find one! lol There's a little hole at the top of the static portion, and I think that's where you put the open pin...yarrrgh :p Next time I play with it I'll have to take pictures.
I'm lucky enough to have one of these from my grandmother - it's an "automatic" pin curler. (Pic & info courtesy eBay)
My question is, have any of you ladies tried one, and if so, how did it work? For me it's excellent for making curls, but when I try to wind it with a bobby pin (what it...
I agree with Miss Neecerie! Start off wearing sheer red lipgloss, then work your way to lipstick. A lot of companies make tinted lip balm these days - that would be your best starting point, IMHO. :)
mysterygal, I love all of their products. Their lipsticks have a smooth texture, not waxy or sticky; and as Miss Bella Hell (cute name!) said, they smell good too! I'm also addicted to their liquid eyeliner - it doesn't budge, and ALL eye makeup does the slip 'n' slide on me. lol
NYC Ultra Moist Lipwear in "Retro Red" (just what it sounds like: a strong, blue-based red) and "Sheer Red" (a darker brown-red). In the summer I'll use a red gloss instead - like Milani Glossy Tubes in "Cherry Pop Shine" (looks fuschia on the website, but is a bright, clear red). All of them...
I've gotten nothing but compliments on my red lips. I've been wearing red lipstick almost exclusively since I was about 16. :D
I do, however, tend toward the "gothy" look when not vintage, so I think folks have just gotten used to it on me. lol And I will often blot it to a stain so that...
Hi Kids! :D
I recently bought a 1920s/1930s era powder compact. It's so cute - I love it! But it's signed on the bottom by "Mary Scott Rowland". Does anybody know anything about her / her cosmetics line?
Thanks!
I'm new so if you guys've discussed it somewhere else, I apologize...
...but have you ever see The Gallery of Regrettable Food? It's not purely Golden Era (goes all the way to the 60s) but it's hysterical. I loved it so much I bought the coffee table book. lol
(1931)
I don't have much access to vintage magazines, but I'll help however I can. I have a 1926 McCall's and a 1949 Ladies Home Journal at home; I'll see what's advertised in them. Thanks! :)
Add me to the list of Airspun addicts. lol I first bought it because the scent reminded me of my Nanny's face...and keep buying it because it's a terrific product! I also use Palmolive soap, sometimes Pears soap, and Noxzema. Occasionally Pond's cold cream.
I've been trying to find a list...
New girl alert
Hi kids! I just joined, mostly for the Powder Room. There is so much wonderful stuff in here! :D
Here's mine:
Morning:
Splash face with cool water.
Pop in contacts.
Apply foundation (usually Maybelline Dream Matte in #1 Porcelain Ivory) with brush.
Use concealer...
