Here are some of my favorites
These are a few that I wear most often. Most, I'm guessing are from 1948-52. My older ones don't get worn as much. I've always liked 'em fat & loud! I am now, however, starting to appreciate some of my more conservative vintage ties a bit. Perhaps I'm aging...
What happened? I never saw the listing. I have been spending A LOT of time on ebay lately & making plenty of purchases. My "favorite searches" gives me 20 auto emails every morning & my "favorite sellers" list is also growing. And Marc, I just added you to my favorite sellers.
Flat Top...
I can't get the suit link up, but...
This is what I just bought. It looks very similar to a blue double breasted suit I have that's dated 1951.

Condition looks great, and I'm pretty thin...
Great music in that film!
I don't remember the lindy hoppers in that film, but I do recall a dancer wearing a cool Hollywood jacket during the Slam Stewart song Oh Me, Oh My, Oh Gosh.
I am wearing a very similar jacket right now, perhaps just a little darker shade of green. I'm wearing it with tan pants (dated 1944) and an exact match green 1940s tie. The tie has a beige & peach floral pattern. White shirt, brown shoes.
I've got this on video...it's actually Slim & Bam (Brown) playing at Billy Berg's. Bam Brown wasn't quite the musician that Slam Stewart was, but was about as zany as Slim Gaillard. The video also has a lot of King Cole Trio clips. They were a much more refined approach to the small combo...
Resortes805...You've got me concerned about size. Before I ordered from CadZoots, I emailed him and told him I was worried about sizing. I told him my dress shirts are 16 1/2 34/35 & I wear a size 42 coat. He told me to go with a large and that sizes run true!
I just received by latest tie acquisition...9 woven ties for $9.99! All deadstock. They all have finished bottoms.
This is a big move for me...most of my other ties are late '40s silk or rayon. The seller of these claimed they were from the 1940s, but I don't know enough about this...
I stopped by the Milwaukee Public Central library today...they don't have the book, but they have every issue of Esquire ever printed, and Apparel Arts from 1945-1948.
Thanks for asking, brother!
You got it right, it's mostly a late '40s look I'm working with. I've been collecting & wearing mostly vintage for about 15 years. I've done a pretty good job of stockpiling certain parts of my wardrobe over the years. I own about 30 suits dating from the early...
Daddy-o, I'm right there with you, brother. I'm also a size 42 and struggle finding the '40s pointed collar gab shirts. Last week I ordered one from Cad Zoots. This looks like the best option around right now, and a slim fit appeals to me. I told 'em I'll be buying more if I like this one...
