I really enjoy the Nissan Heisman House commercial where the tour bus pulls up to the front yard and the guide starts talking about "actual Heisman Trophy winners!" while Joe Theismann and his wife sit on the open top second level. When Jim Plunket and Herschel Walker (out on the front lawn in...
I've been saying "Man alive!" for quite a while, my (much) younger coworkers started razzing me about it; I really wasn't conscious of it until they pointed it out.
Earlier this year, my wife bought me two hat racks for my birthday since she was aware that I had a large number and that I'd like to display them. I was grateful for the thoughtful gift, her support of my hobby and the opportunity to showcase my collection. I'm sure most of you know where...
Shane (1953) gives me a sense of what living in the West at that time was probably like; the vastness and beauty of the land, the isolation, the lack of any real law enforcement which allowed for naked greed and ruthless tactics, how news of events was spread by word of mouth. Great...
The scene where Mirren changes from heels to combat boots (while still wearing her evening dress) in order to better fire said Browning is one of my favorites in that film.
Suicide Kings (1997). Christopher Walken and Dennis Leary both do what they're best at. Entertaining; looks like they copped a lot of Quentin Tarantino's style, but Quentin pretty much copped his style from countless other films so it evens out.
Public Morals on TNT. Nice 1960's period piece heavy on cliches. Nothing that I haven't seen before, but some good acting. This is the New York City Police Department that Serpico walked into in the 70's. Nice wardrobe (love the hats).
All of the detectives in the photo have their lowest jacket button unfastened (except for the man on the far left, which may be why his suit looks the most rumpled) which would give them somewhat faster access to their gats.
I agree; I own quite a lot of snap brims and I do like 'em, but I would definitely like to have some where the brim is flat or at least flatter. More so on some of the stingy brims - the down-turned brims can be short to the point of looking like a child's hat and I don't always want to wear...
The whistle chain is still a part of our class A uniforms and we are required to wear it since it is an issued item. However, the whistles themselves are not issued and therefore I don't believe anyone in my Sheriff's Department actually carries one (other than me).
My Uncle owned a Britney Spaniel named Laddie (I'm sure he was not influenced by the plethora of "Lassie's" that were popular back then). My Dad had a beagle named Buck and an English Setter (excellent pointer) named Mike. He cried when each of them had to be put down.
Funny you should mention that; my wife and I recently visited Pittsburgh and I saw a young lady strumming away on a ukulele in the Strip area. As we moved around to different streets, shops and restaurants I saw her working various areas but it sounded like she was playing the same song every...
My mother longed for a silver tea set for decades until my brother and I bought her one for Mother's Day sometime back in the 1980's. It has been proudly displayed in her china cabinet (under plastic so it won't tarnish) ever since. To my knowledge, it has never been used. Still, she...
