I've always meant to tell you how much I love your pictures of George and Elizabeth--I've noticed them in the background of your What Are You Wearing photographs for some time.
My ranking would be Spike for a fling, Giles to marry, toss Angel (sorry Angel fans but he just never did a thing for me--that's more for you though, right?)
As for fictional crushes I had it bad for Nick Charles (or would that be William Powell?) as a teenager. In my mind all the drinking...
My name is Sarah, which is fairly vintage, but if I had to pick another vintage name I'd probably choose one of my great aunt's names--either Alice (born 1902) or Mary Louise (born 1893). I like flower names too--Rose for instance.
Slightly off topic but I'm doing genealogy research and...
I'm not sure where to post this query but this looked like the best place.
I just got a bright navy--almost middle blue-- skirt from the 40's that I will need to wear with a slip. Would you wear a black one or a white one? Or do you think it doesn't matter?
Amazing shoe buys lately and add my voice to the chorus singing "that jacket is fantastic!" to MissHannah. The color is outstanding and I love the ruffled peplum in the back.
I used the last of my Christmas money to buy a few 1940's things. They were all on the edge of being Hail Mary's...
Most of the women I know can tell you how old they were the first time they were called "Ma'am" instead of "Miss"--it's kind of a rite of passage (I was 16). I'm fine with either form of address.
It's an interesting idea and there's several of those designs, especially the evening gowns, that I'd consider purchasing if I had the money and the figure. I do wonder how much quality is compromised with "modern finishing techniques".
I also really liked the music they used on the site.
I've always admired these houses; on a street full of Boston capes they look like they were dropped in straight from California. Seeing their red tile roofs covered in snow yesterday made me smile.
I adore that window on the right.
In the summertime they have the awnings...
Last Chance Harvey.
The movie was a trifle but Eileen Atkins and Emma Thompson were marvelous as usual and it made me miss London terribly. Dustin Hoffman essentially uses one expression through the entire film but he's enjoyable.
Dan in Real Life with Steve Carell and Juliette Binoche (an odd couple that somehow works).
This was one of those movies I missed in the theater and it was much better than I expected it would be. A couple cloying moments but overall extremely enjoyable. I loved the vacation home in Rhode...
The Best of the Colbert Report--so many bits I haven't seen in quite awhile. The Metaphor-Free-Phor-All and Cooking with Feminists never fail to make me laugh.
Poor Lauren--I keep thinking of those awful cat food and Tuesday Morning commercials she's done. I hope she at least got a fat paycheck out of the deal.
For coffee commercials I always remember those Margaret Hamilton ones from the 70's.
I love this thread--you all look wonderful. My hair has been so dry lately (like the rest of me)--I'm sure it's the weather. I really need to do some extra conditioning or something in order to get it fit to include here.
