As alluded to in many other threads of the same nature, I would simply curl up in a ball and die if transported to the golden era. There are things I like about it, I pick & choose them.

Not sure about the States, but in NI (and I assume the rest of the UK) "business casual" is by far the most expensive and frankly difficult to maintain.
The Lincs event with "Just Jane" scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled as Vera still isn't back in the air. Problem is that she has Packard Merlins, the only ones on hand in the UK are of RR manufacture. There are small but significant differences apparently.

Yes, I remember "the formal" - Didn't do them until post school edumacation, very largely because I detested school and I certainly didn't want to socialise with people from school (other than a few select chums).
They were mostly hideous anyway, with any entertainment value or any lasting...
The young me had his life mapped out during his teens, this plan was set back somewhat... In fact completely scuppered by the collapse of the Soviet Union and the resulting refusal of the UK government to pay people to plot doing nasty things to them, which was pretty much what I had my heart...
