    Edmunds uses a very stiff waxed lace which rubs against the leather thus causing a squeaking sound. As was posted above by Annixiter, a softer less waxed lace won't squeak.     You are correct. But that can easily be solved with a different pair of laces. The squeaky noise has more to do with with the laces than the actual shoe. I would reccommend experimenting with different laces.
