    The Sunday Drive

Here in Vermont they have the "251 Club" which denotes the number of cities and towns in the state. Premise to visit each town, take a photo in the town center and once you have hit all 251, join the club. My wife and I have decided that next spring we are going to start on our 251 quest...

    What would you miss most?

Family aside, I think the only things I would miss is the speed of information. Example, accessing 911. That brings me to my second item I would miss: modern medicine. Other than that, bring it on.

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

Thanks Lizzie! I figured as much. When I had my Jeep with larger tires on it I did much the same, just lived with it. I keep looking at the Coker 6.00/16 white walls but those things are crazy money! May I ask where you picked up the 6.50/16 tires and are they radial or bias?

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

Hey fellow loungers, I have another question that I hope someone can help me with. I replaced the speedometer cable in my car last night (my old one was accidentally crimped and snapped when I was working on the car). I went out and was testing the car and noticed that the speedo is about...

    five-dollar stetson stiff-rim?

More from the quote for more context: "We took our position on K Street, on the corner, I think, of Fifth. It was early in the evening and the street was crowded. Bob studied the head-gear of every Chinaman that passed. I used to wonder how the road-kids all managed to wear "five-dollar...

    Ghost stories please..

I was a huge skeptic until I had a few experiences. Here are some of the experiences my parents have had and I have had. 1. Just before moving into our new house when I was around 10, we had lost a small gold finch from its bird cage. My dad and I had gone down town and when we came home, my...

    Courage to Wear a Fedora

I second your thoughts. I have had more than one negative comment, well more naive I guess, but I normally shut them up quickly. The compliments you will get will make more of an impact on your confidence than the negative comments or the looks you get. And once you start wearing hats, you...

Your winter season forecast for 2014/2015: BRRRRRRR!!!!!

Up here in North Central Vermont we expect every winter to be crappy. Last year I walked outside in a t-shirt to start the cars before heading to work and it felt much warmer than normal for that winter. I remarked to my wife that it was a heat wave and she checked the temp outside: -19*F. It...

    Courage to Wear a Fedora

I get those all the time at work. My wife, however, says "you are the only person I know that wants to dress like an old man!" LOL

The Passing Away of John Erickson, Fellow Lounger and Friend to Many.

I just saw this thread. He was great when I first joined the lounge, answering questions and just making things around here so welcoming. I enjoyed his posts immensely. I am floored to say the least.

Uses for Old Stockings and Hosiery

Something I saw my dad do once in the late 70s: Use them as an emergency fan belt. Had my mom take hers off, and used them as a temporary fix to get to the nearest gas station. He learned that trick from his Father. ETA: Thankfully the gas station was 10 miles or less away. When we got...
