I was lucky enough to be gifted one from a fellow lounger but would pick up a few more (particularly if they were made smaller and into cuff-links) - I use mine as a tie tack and a lapel pin on a very regular basis.
I think I am going to end up with just plain black or dark brown. Boring but it will allow me to wear the hat more often so it can be in my regular cycle. If the hat were lighter I think it would lend itself to some more color options.
On-going Knox 15 project
I picked up a nice Knox 15 at a flea market a while back for a song. The hat had a 3" bound brim that just made the hat feel like an awning over my 5'5" frame although I loved the fact that it had a 5 1/2" open crown. I decided to trim the brim down to 2 3/8" and keep...
The State Police here are pretty strapped manpower wise. They do patrol the interstate but they also serve as town police for most of the towns in Vermont. As an example our local barracks has 16 towns in their service area. During the day they run two troopers on patrol for 16 towns. At night...
You can also place items in a black plastic garbage bag and set them in the direct sun for a day or two. Temps get quite high in the bag and kill anything on them. Not sure how leather would react.
I should mention that I work in mental health. The population we are seeing now tend to be younger, first break folks that have had drug induced psychosis. When I was director of security at a local college the amount of pain killers going across campus reviled the other drugs (Meth, Heroin...
It has been the same thing here in Vermont. It seems that every month or so there is a news story on someone who cooked the books and took home $100,000+ before it was noticed. My Mom is a bookkeeper and has known a number of the folks that have been charged. I can not imagine what kind of...
Can't believe that I forgot my local favorite - I drive past the thing twice a day.
The Wayside in Montpelier, VT.
Started in 1918 and has been going strong ever since. Pricing is good and portions are HUGE.

Stepped out of my 1939 dodge sedan yesterday wearing a grey felt fedora, pale orange shirt with a bold look tie that matched, herringbone grey wool pants and black and white spectators and immediately had the lady next to me tell me she loved my tie and that I had a wonderful 60s thing going on...
I do both actually.
I think the "worship" part comes with having been in the service, understanding what those who came before me sacrificed (in both times of "peace" and war) so that I can fly it on my flag pole, and my personal relationship with the flag.
Maybe its stupid to worship a...
Knox 15 in what appears to be a half hearted attempt at a Stratoliner clone.
Color is chocolate brown and the thing is butter smooth.
Brim: 3" bound
Crown: 5" open 4 1/2 to pinch.
Not sure who Col. Memphis was, but he had a nice hat!
I few I picked up from my Grandfather:
"dumber than a bag of busted hammers"
"Worthless like a screen door on a submarine"
"Made a bigger mess than a soup sandwich"
