Arne, I believe that the hat in your link is the Stetson Nostalgia, certainly the colours listed are Stetson shades.
Your next best bet for a new open crown hat that I know of is the Christy Swerford, as made exclusively for Top Secret Hats but I think today is the last day they will take...

Yes, I always found their UK service very good, whilst what Blackthorn describes is appaling. What saddens me is that I will no longer be able to get their Swerford, which struck me as being my ideal hat. Alas.

I'd concur that these are likely to be 1940s in date, from the shape, and almost certainly cotton. According to Esky they achieved something of return to vogue in the mid 30s.
