I've been really getting into the faux-fur thing at the moment, now that it's getting really nippy 'round here. I have one of those short scarves which you describe, Paisley, but only wear it on really really cold days as crikey, that thing warms you up right quick! I couldn't imagine wearing...
I have certain tapes with stuff taped off of the telly that I treasure. Lots of films off of TCM, many of which may not make it to DVD anyhow, and with Robert Osbourne's commentaries which I wish I could have for every film that I ever watch! I also have some tapes from the UK channel Bravo...
Crikey, I could have written that nearly verbatim and feel much relieved to hear someone going through the same process. Most of what I see going on around me in the way of fads and fashions and what passes for culture just don't engage me at all. Having discovered this "retro thing" I could...
Joy - but I gather they've been constrained to change the 80-odd-year old formula, so I can only speak for that pre-change bottle I'm rationing like mad, and how it smells on me?
I also love Pacifica's Mediterranean Fig, the scent I wear when I need to make sure others are not importuned by my...
And dare I say, as far away from other people as possible, too...
I am owned by two lovely greyhounds and one beautiful lurcher. Yes, they fit wonderfully into my art deco decor. But I'd get rid of all of the deco stuff and indeed everything I have before the dogs would go. They come first in...
Those first ones look incredibly like the Miss L Fire booties mentioned earlier in the thread...are they? If they are, you got 'em for a steal! If they aren't, you still did!
Yup, that's the thing with tights and pantyhose; they're either up around your boobs or the crotch is 'round your knees!
There's a cute 40's repro coat at Tara Starlet at the moment...
The 80's - the decade that taste forgot! ;)
I never had a perm but my hair used to be super-frizzy so I have had some dodgy straightener jobs. Notably the one where my whole frontal hairline just frizzled off and the odd scab started to form! That was my last frequenting of that establishment...
Maybe you could just split said tubing along its length and keep it together with twist ties or something until the stuff sets and then voila...I can't figure out how you would shape the business end of it, however.
Hello, all. I am currently making this pattern:

and would really appreciate some advice on it. I have finished the bodice and am preparing to make up the skirt portion. Because it has gathers on the skirt, and I have a small...
Funny, at first glance I thought it was a young Gary Cooper! Then I thought, "Nah"...
But he's already got one in his back pocket! I assumed it was a water bottle, but maybe it's full of formula...!
+1. I love how you're going for a beautifully classical style (note that I say "style" and not "fashion" :)), pulled together and tres classy! It all suits you! You're beaming in your photos!
I think we all go through a process of "finding your way", and trial and error, and...
Okay, so the ending of the debut didn't have quite the "wow" factor of the 1st series (I mean, how can you beat that "totally up **** creek without a paddle" ending with the well-cued music and that beautiful shot where the camera moved up to show the little tiny tank and ALL THOSE ZOMBIES...
Those kind of harmless fun rituals are so lacking these days...I even went to see Rocky Horror with my mum once (who had a bit of a crush on Frank N. Furter!). So right; it was so much part of the fun to see people dressing up and participating.
