I used a hair comb and hot glued it to the back (I hot glued the solid top part, not the teeth part). If you screw up the position, wait until it dries, pull it off and try it again. It's really easy!
I said a little bit about it in this thread, but my opinion has changed to be more favorable after I saw it a second time. It is definitely a movie to see twice since everything goes so fast the first time, and my friend wanted to see it, so twice I went. But yeah, I came out of it the second...
Thanks to Amber Rose and decodoll for your help! I bought some pads and experimented on one. Here is the result:
Compared to the one from the movie:
I have it on the reverse way than she does - I'm not sure which way I like it more. Anyway, I'm not completely happy with the results...
Hmm...I think I took myself out of context when I said this. My point was suppose to be that if I'm walking down a dark street in a not so nice neighborhood I feel safer in jeans and sneakers than in a skirt and little heels clicking everywhere. In this particular "dark alley" case I feel...
Thanks to everyone for the recipes and tips. Here are some photos of how the tea party turned out.
A little two tiered serving dish with lady fingers, nectarine cakes and thumbprint cookies
I used sandalwood fans as not only the place settings, but as favors too.
I scored the lace...
This one is actually an old purchase that I just recently got to wear.
I bought it a year ago. I had no place to where it but when I saw the back and how great it fit I knew I had to snatch it up. I ended up wearing it to my friend's wedding last month. I didn't take my camera, but my...
This is me rambling
This is a tough one. I grew up in Miami, FL and went to public school where it was a lot easier for you if you had a tough bark, even if there was no bite to back it up. So I dressed like a tomboy and acted tough because I got things easier and wasn't hassled as much that...
I went to SCAD for my undergrad and am returning to complete my MFA. I would highly suggest it for Historic Preservation - great program. Savannah is a city that is constantly conserving and refurbishing buildings so it would be a dream for any preservationist.
Marquise, I'm glad to see you...
Please keep me posted on this as well. If you ever get into ladies shoes I think you'd make a killing from us big-footed girls. So hard to find anything larger than a 7.
So I haven't posted any other the other hair tutorials from the magazines I got because I've been a busy bee. But here are some tutorials from Vintage Memoirs that I discovered via jp*81 in another hair thread.
The scans of the hair tutorials that are on the Vintage Memoirs site are seperated...
Oh, that looks like so much fun! You two look great and make me very jelous. I wish I had time to take part in such things, or even know where to look to sign up for them!
I do wish public phones were more prevelant because I would surely get rid of my cell phone if that was the case. I barely use it and really see it as quite a bother. They still have a few in the EL stations in Chicago since cell phones don't get reception underground.
They actually have...
Yes! I thought some FLers would be interested in Pare Umbrella's new designs and was going to make a new thread until I saw this post. It must be all the rain that's been going around.
This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but perhaps you can find something you like. Pare Umbrella has some very unique umbrellas that I absolutely adore.
Here are some other links to on-line umbrella shops:

In my hunt for shoes I found another dance shoe store that seems to have more variety than the others I've seen.

They have these two pairs which I am currently trying to decided whether I love them or hate them.
I'm loving the little loops within the strap of...
Come Summer I will be moving from Chicago, IL to Savannah, GA for graduate studies. Although I lived there for my undergrad, I was never aware of any retro communities or vintage clubs in the area. I am well aware that there are many vintage enthusiast in the area, but don't know where they...
Thanks for that title - I just got it yesterday and the entire book is true find. The "Ladies Lunch" section in the front will be very helpful for my tea party!
Thanks!
